About 111 years ago in the grounds of Luneta Manila, Spanish authorities shot a man. A man who was about to change the course of Philippine history, a man we know today as Jose Rizal. What was Jose Rizal’s greatest legacy? Why was he chosen to become our national hero ? For most people they believe that Jose Rizal was rightly chosen to become a national hero because he influenced most of our revolutionary leaders through his writings and example although other people believe that he should only be declared a hero not “The national hero.” Jose Rizal was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He is considered a national hero of the Philippines, and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution. As a political figure, Jose Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan led by Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo. He was a proponent of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution. The general consensus among Rizal scholars, however, attributed his martyred death as the catalyst that precipitated the Philippine Revolution. Most people believed that Rizal’s greatest legacy is his love for his country as embodied in his writings and the actions that he took. You can actually say that Jose Rizal is one of my “Role models.”.. Having watched so much Rizal movies, reading so much on his life and the places where he has been, I cannot help but ask myself, how could a man who lived only 34 years have so much impact not only in our nation but around the world ?
For me personally, Jose Rizal’s greatest legacy was that he lived a full and meaningful life. It did not matter that he lived for only 34 years. He accomplished so much in such a short period of time because he had a vision in his mind and a mission in his heart. The intensity of such mission and vision translated into action that enabled him not to waste time in any trivial matters but rather devote all of his time to the accomplishment of the mission and vision that he believed was given to him.
The question right now that I should be asking myself or you should be asking yourself is when the time comes for us to leave this earth, will our lives matter? Can we truly say that we have lived a full and meaningful life? If we cannot answer this question positively, than we must ask God to grant us a personal vision and a mission for our lives in order that we might not waste our time on things that does not matter at all. In so doing we might be able to live a life just like Jose Rizal did and leave a legacy for others to follow. Leaving a legacy as Rizal did is I believe, my “higher calling.”

in my own opinion Rizal is the pride of Malayan race and the greatest man of the brown race..He was a proponent of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution.

Rizal's advocacy of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution makes him Asia's first modern non-violent proponent of political reforms.

Rizal's appearance on the scene came at a time when European colonial power had been growing and spreading, mostly motivated by trade, some for the purpose of bringing Western forms of government and education to peoples regarded as backward.Rizal from an early age had been enunciating in poems, tracts and plays, ideas all his own of modern nationhood as a practical possibility in Asia.

here is controversy on whether Rizal actually wrote a document of retraction which stated: "I retract with all my heart whatever in my words, writings, publications and conduct have been contrary to my character as a son of the Catholic Church...

I agree of Blumentritt said about Rizal that he’s not only the most famous man of his own people but the greatest Malayan race has produced; Because in all the sacrifices that he done for sake of others. He fight for the rights not only in his own country but also to those people who suffer and live under the inequalities of the Spaniard colonies, he fight until his last breath. For the poems and novels that he done and contributed and it become the inspiration of people especially the youth. Although there is a such people who not agree about Blumentritt said, because they not consider Rizal as the greatest Malayan race.
Rizal was a polyglot. He mastered 22 languages which included Catalan, Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Malay, Sanskrit, Spanish, Tagalog, Cebuano and other Philippine languages. As a polymath, he was also an architect, artist, educator, economist, ethnologist, scientific farmer, historian, inventor, journalist, musician, mythologist, internationalist, naturalist, novelist, ophthalmologist, physician, poet, propagandist, sculptor, and sociologist.
To us Filipinos, Dr. Rizal, is our greatest hero. His life, works and heroism are still revered or respected by every Filipino; reliving the courage of the man that became the catalyst for freedom. He’s the flame that ignited the emotions of our ancestors to rebel against the Spanish government. Because of this development, he’s the one blamed for letting the Filipino people be awakened to the harsh realities of life during those times…injustices and oppression. His valiant weapon…the pen, that became the cause of his death sentence in front of his countrymen. So many heroes die for our country, but Rizal’s stature stood above them all. So that I believe that Rizal is the greatest Malayan race has produced. A total man, National Hero. The Pride of the Malay Race. Many accolades were given to Jose Rizal, being one of the nation’s symbols. Even, a child can proudly answer who’s the pride of our nation. Many statues honoring him were built in and outside the country y the vivid and concrete honors given to the most remembered hero of the land. Why was the credit all given to him when our independence is in question? Critics will agree that Rizal is never a monopolize. There were other Filipinos who are heroes in their own rights but can never equal Rizal’s magnitude. I hope this serves as a reminder to us all. Let us be thankful for our freedom and honor Dr. Jose Rizal and the other revolutionary heroes who served and died for our country.

“Not only is Rizal the most prominent man of his own people but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced.” -Ferdinand Blumentritt
Rizal is not only the most famous man of his people but the greatest Malayan race because Rizal is came from Malays and he has a blood of being a Malay’s and he has also the traits and characteristic of being Filipino that’s why Blumentritt told that he is the greatest Malayan race.Rizal has the ability and capability of being a good leader by doing a good thing and by talking in civil and with diplomacy for the wars or problems that he encounters. He is not the type of a war freak person unlike the other country like Japanese who are always using their force in order to get what they want. Blumentritt produced Rizal as the greatest Malayan race because he knows that Rizal can speak and truly understand different kinds of languages like no other can.
Rizal is a good leader and a good example for the youth because of what he did and he fought for his own decisions and he has his own way of thinking and beliefs that is why Rizal called the Philippine National Hero. He is the first Asian nationalist. He expressed the growing national consciousness of many Filipinos who opposed Spanish colonial tyranny and aspired to attain democratic rights. He was an expert swordsman and a good shot. In the hope of securing political and social reforms for his country and at the same time he educate his countrymen. Rizal is the greatest apostle of Filipino nationalism that published, while he is in Europe, several works with highly nationalistic and revolutionary tendencies. He engaged in agriculture, fishing and business, he maintained and operated a hospital, he conducted classes and taught his pupils the English and Spanish languages, and the art. He is also a fearless man. His sincerity and friendliness won for him the trust and confidence of even those assigned to guard him, his good manners and warm personality were found irresistible by women of all races with whom he had personal contacts, his intelligence and humility gained for him the respect and admiration of prominent men of other nations, while his undaunted courage and determination to uplift the welfare of his people were feared by his enemies.Rizal raised the prospect of a revolution as a solution to the problems of the Philippines. But being a social reformer and a man of peace, he concluded that pursuing that goal through force of arms was bound to fail. He argued that civic virtues must first be cultivated before aiming for independence.

Ferdinand Blumentritt said that “not only is Rizal the most prominent man of his own people but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced.” We all know that Rizal is intelligient, he believe in the power of words, he is also talented because he wrote many novels and poems .What im trying to say is that i am agree that blumentritt says that because at the young age of Rizal he understand and know what is going on in his nation and fellowmen.he suffer and experience the bitterness of Spaniards under the time of Spanish authorities. Rizal is prominent of being a man of his own because he appreciate the arts and literature of his own. Rizal pursuit our nation by writings to spread the feeling of his fellowmen and denounce the evil of Spaniards. The Spaniards losing the dignity of the Filipinos and use the ignorance of the Filipinos and Rizal is the one who raise it up just by using his pen even though he failed to continue it because he judge by death in early age. Rizal is a good leader he lead the right way of being true to himself. That all doing wrong must be correct to be in good. Like he wrote the Noli Me Tangere Rizal state there that the thrash about of the government and the El Filibusterismo state there that the rotten spoiled of the government that time. Rizal didn’t feel the fear for himself even though it can be danger for his family, Hr proclaimed there all the bad doing of that time in writings. So all us must agree that Blumentritt said that quotation to Rizal because for me as far as I know only Rizal do that and prove that. If only Rizal is still alive today I know he will continue and do the same thing again. He give his life to give the freedom in Filipinos. But despite of my favorable to Rizal im also disagree that statement of Blumentritt because not only Rizal can do it, many people can do it also in many different way to prove that they can also serve and give success and freedom to our nation. Like Bonifacio and other heroes they try to do something built our nation but yet not like Rizal do that he built our nation by using only a pen and in just a simple way and its inspiring and wonderful. He didn’t use sword just to protect our nation. He is the greatest because he stand and give us the power of freedom all we want in our hearts. Today maybe we can make it also do all that Rizal begins. For me Rizal will be mark in our nation because of being his responsible leader to our nation. There is a time for the new generation for the hope of our future. Rizal is one of the model we should follow for us to raise our nation and let just put Rizal in our hearts and mind as the greatest man the Malayan race has produced. I also believe that there still a stand of hope despite of what happening evil in our nation. We can raise from the shadow of institution and uphold our national dignity that each of us may lead the nation towards our national heroes.

As we all know José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda’s legacy is almost forgotten by Filipinos and most especially the youth these days. But what is Jose Rizal’s Legacy to us? Rizal was a different person to different people. He traveled the world, not only as a mere Official Filipino Tourist at the time but one who learned from the different places he has been and left even a mark there.
A man who changed the course of Philippine history, he influenced most of our revolutionary leaders through his writings and example. I remember taking up a “Rizal” subject in highschool’s social studies and history and also a course in college, which was a requirement in order for us to graduate in college. At that time, I was somewhat disinterested due to the same thing being talked and presented about him over and over again. I believe one semester of a subject is not enough to fully understand and grasp the life and achievements of Jose Rizal.
He valued education so much that the education of Filipinos and their achievement of a national identity were prerequisites to achieve freedom. So with that, no wonder we are still in the third world having to give no significant importance to our youth’s education and at the same time the destruction of our own culture.
The Filipino Youth in which he describes as the Hope for the motherland should take power and create a revolution of new ideas and inspiration to do away with the corrupt and ridiculously ineffective ways that the so-called adults are doing to run this country. We should take note of the path taken by Rizal in achieving his enduring legacy. And while he was among the most educated and best qualified to lead an emerging Philippine nation, he did not fight for any leadership post.
Instead he focused on self-improvement, showing to Spain and the rest of the international community that, given the opportunity to achieve their full potential, Filipinos could stand alongside the best in the world and were eligible for self-rule.
In his writings he emphasized the importance of education, seeing it as the path to national progress rather than armed revolt
The whole misfortune of the present Filipinos consists in that they have become only half-way brutes. The Filipino is convinced that to get happiness it is necessary for him to lay aside his dignity as a rational creature, to attend mass, to believe what is told him…without aspiring anything…without protesting against any injustice…any insult… that is, not to have heart, brain, or spirit; a creature with arms and a purse of gold. . . there’s the ideal native!.

"Not only is Rizal the most prominent man of his own people but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced." -Ferdinand Blumentritt, 1897.
Who is Rizal? Why was Jose Rizal chosen to become our national hero? Does he deserve to become our national hero? Is he the greatest man that the Malayan race has produced? That’s the questions that are bothering all of us.
Jose Rizal was our national hero. He influenced the minds and hearts of our revolutionary leaders by means of his writings and his novels about the Spanish Colonials. About how the Spanish colonials ruled our country. He writes the dirty little secrets of the Spaniards and because of that he was put into prison and was sentenced to die. He thinks first the life of the other person rather than thinking of his safety. He risks his life for others. He took us away from slavery. That’s why for me he deserves to become our national hero, even though other people believes and thinks that he shouldn’t declared as our national hero instead Bonifacio. He fights using his mind. When I watched the Jose Rizal movie I was amazed by his life story. I cannot help but ask myself, how could a 34 year old man have this great impact on our hearts and lives? For me, even though Rizal was lived for only 34 years he has lived in a great and meaningful life. He accomplished his duties, missions and visions and achieved his dreams in a short period of time. It made me think can I have a great and meaningful life too like the life of Rizal?.. Rizal was shot about many years ago in the grounds of Luneta in Manila at the arms of the Spanish authorities. After he died he changed the course of our Philippine history, a man we know today as Jose Rizal. Until now we are commemorating the death anniversary of our national hero Jose Rizal. Even though Rizal was sentenced to die, I have this strange feeling that he died as a happy and contented man because he already did his job by influencing the minds and hearts of our revolutionary leaders. I believe that Rizal was a great man but not the greatest man that the Malayan race has ever produced, because for me even though he risked his life for our countries freedom. I believe that he is not the greatest man among the Malayan race. Because there are also other people that are ready to risk their lives for the other people’s safety. Like the soldiers they are risking their lives just to protect our country. They are ready to die just to protect and achieve the freedom of their country. Like what Rizal did to our country. Jose Rizal maybe a great man but not the greatest man that the Malayan race has ever produced. That’s why we have to give importance to the freedom that we have right now. We owe it a lot to Jose Rizal and to our revolutionary leaders.

Deborah V. Bayangan Rizal’s Life and Works

As a student, I have my own opinion on what is happening or happened in our country especially on the time of our national hero.
I am agree on what Blumentrith told about Rizal that he is not only the most famous man in his people but the greatest man of the Malayan Race produced because all we know that Rizal is very intelligent. He always top on his class and his professor appreciate him when he was still studying. He studies at the famous Universities especially at the University of Santo Tomas which is the oldest University of the whole Asia until he graduated in the field of medicine. Rizal knows how to speak twenty-four languages, he used to communicate in the other countries, and I can say that this is the one proof of his intellect that brings to him to be a famous man.
At the Spanish period, Rizal saw the bad effect of the presence of Spaniards here in the Philippines, their immoral works especially in the church, the unfaithful works of the priest. He also saw the injustice treat for the Filipinos especially when the three Fathers martyr was punished by death. This is the reason why that Rizal was inspired to write the novels entitled “Noli Me Tangere “and the “Elfilibusterismo” that he dedicated to the three Fathers “Gom-Bur-Za”. These are the well-known writings of Rizal.
We also know that Bonifacio have great respect and admiration to Rizal because of what he’s done for his country. Rizal wanted to have peace, he don’t want to flow a blood that’s why he fight for his countrymen by using his intellectual ability in writing. He wrote about the things that happening in our county and the bad influence of Spaniards in the Filipino.
Dr. Jose Rizal is a most famous man in the Philippines because he fights for the rights of his countrymen; he did not think his own self even he know that it will take risk in his life. He has many contributions that he made in order to save the Filipinos. This is the reason why that his countrymen love him and they appreciated most even right now. It is not only here in the Philippines that Rizal was known him because he is also famous in the other country especially in the countries that he was travelled before.
Rizal is not a pure blooded Filipino but he gave his life for the sake of the Filipinos, and all we know that Filipinos comes from the Malayan Race. He is the greatest man of the Malayan race produced because as for me, he is only the man who have the entire characteristic of a best or greatest man in the world. He sacrificed his own life, everything for his country.
In general, Dr, Jose Rizal is the greatest man that comes from the Malayan race that I know because most of the other country, know all about him because of many things that he was done and I’m so very proud as a part of the Malayan race and for being Rizal as our national hero.

Blumenttrit sayings:that not only is Rizal the most famous man of his own people but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced.

From this statement I’m not agree for me Blumentritt is not right because its possible that time only Dr. Jose R Rizal is the great man on his nature on Malayan race. For me and is possible that generation there’s so many Malay that’ been great and famous but when I am young I agree with Blumentritt because I thought Rizal was a great man because of what he done in our country but when I have elementary studies I learned that not Rizal that’s so famous sand great …there’s so many Filipinos fought for our freedom not just only Rizal and according to Beyer that we are a Malayan too how about Bonifacio? He gave his life too and his own interest for our country too. So it’s possible that Bonifacio is great too? My theory on what Blumentritt saying s that Rizal is the greatest man of Malayan it possible that he knows only Rizal in that time .. and he doesn’t know Bonifacio and Aguinaldo and others Filipinos that fought for our freedom against Spanish. We are talking about great it means you are famous and you are smart..Some aspect of being great Malay of Rizal is true. The intensity of such mission and vision translated into action that enabled him not to waste time in any trivial matters but rather devote all of his time to the accomplishment of the mission and vision that he believed was given to him.
When we tackle up or study the life of Rizal you will see that he sacrifice his life and many things in his life just for our country but watch out Bonifacio and some of our hero sacrifice their life and own interest for our freedom. My opinion about why Bonifacio is not be a great man for Blumentritt because he is not so smart and famous that time. If I would be Blumentritt I will write a novel for our heroes that they sacrifice their life’s.. I will tell how they great he is.
When you read some books of Rizal he denied that he is the great man of Malayan race I’m not sure of it. When you say great some word will enter your mind and you will think that Rizal is not deserving for that title just is for me.. You have your own opinion this is mine don’t think that I’m not a Filipino huh..
Some man pretend to be the great man of the Malayan race because they want to be famous..

My main opinion on the sayings of Blumentritt is I’m not agree with him cause there is lot of Filipinos that fought and sacrifice their life and own interest just for freedom... not only Rizal is deserving for that sayings..Its too unfair for those who want for that.. that’s my own opinion and you have your own think of it and you will have an idea of yours….

According to Ferdinand Blumentritt Rizal is the most famous and the greatest man the Malayan race has produced. Indeed, Rizal is truly a great man, people not only from the Philippines acclaimed his intelligence but from other countries as well, like his close friend Ferdinand Blumentritt. He abandoned his self-interest for the sake of his people and the freedom of the country from the abusive colonizers. Blumentritt based his ideas that Rizal came from the Malayan race could be true, we all know that once, Philippines has made contact from other race and one of which is the Malays. Even in the book of Gregorio Zaide he mentioned that his mother’s ancestor came from a royalty blood specifically a Lakandula, it is a Malayan title given for chieftains. I consider him as a greatest national hero because of his unselfishness, he could have lived rich and migrate to other country but he did not, he dedicate his live to the issues concerning the public matters, his love for his country and the people living in it. Even now, no Filipino can surpass Rizal, maybe there is someone who is equal in intelligence but I guess no one could utterly dedicate his life for other people; he has high morale except for being a playboy, he made a great impact to us and to others, and his belief that freedom could be attain by peaceful means through his writings is truly admirable. He has the capabilities to influence one’s mind that he had awakened the Filipino’s from the harsh realities. The Spaniards, Filipinos and others considered him to be most courageous, most intelligent and the most dangerous enemy that he was subjected to die through gunshot so that others will not do the same. I remembered during one of our lectures in Rizal course, our prof. said that a Malaysian disagrees with Blumentritt, I think it has something to do with his race, that he does not agree that Rizal came from the Malay race. In his veins, run different bloodline, Chinese, Spanish, Negrito, Malaysian, and Indonesian. It’s a mixture of different race, in my opinion, it seems to me that this particular Malaysian who disagree is somewhat insecure or envious of Dr.Jose Rizal’s achievements. Maybe his parents came from the Chinese however, we must not forget that once, the Malays and other race has set their foot here in Philippines, this movement of people could be the reason, as I mentioned above his mothers ancestor came from royal family specifically a Lakandula, moreover, Rizal has a quite resemblance to Malays, if you are going to look at his picture. If I were Malay, instead of being insecure, I would be proud that someone like him had lived and adored by many. And finally, he is a man honored after death by public worship, because of exceptional service to mankind. The day of his birth & the day of his execution are fittingly commemorated by all classes of our people throughout the length & breadth of this country & even by Filipinos & their friends abroad. No other Filipino hero can surpass Rizal in the number of towns, barrios, & streets named after him; in the number of educational institutions, societies, & trade names the number of laws, Executive Orders & Proclamations of the Chief Executive, & bulletins, memoranda, & circulars of both the bureaus of public & private schools to include him as one of the subject, the writer & thinker whose teachings & noble thoughts have been frequently invoked & quoted by authors & public speakers on almost all occasions includes him. Rizal never held a gun or sword in the battlefield to fight for freedom instead he use his pen while Bonifacio chose the radical ways, in the film Jose Rizal the movie, the revolution headed by Bonifacio was the result of Jose Rizal’s writings and generated a long lasting achievement.

Ferdinand Blumentritt had acknowledge him as the famous among his people and the greatest man the malayan race has produced. There is no doubt in it, he knew how to speak 24 languages, excels in studies especially those concerning arts and sciences. His ideas and beliefs serves as the basis of some philosophers. Dr. Jose Rizal was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms using peaceful method in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He is considered the Philippines' national hero and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution. He is our greatest hero because as a towering figure in the Propaganda Campaign, he took an "admirable part" in that movement w/c roughly covered the period from 1882-1896. José Rizal's most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. These writings angered both the Spaniards and the hispanicized Filipinos due to their insulting symbolism that sentenced him to death so that no one would dare to do it again, this serves as a warning. It should be a source of pride & satisfaction to the Filipinos to have among their national heroes one of such excellent qualities & merits w/c may be equaled but not surpassed by any other man. Whereas generally the heroes of occidental nations are warriors & generals who serve their cause w/ the sword, distilling blood & tears, the hero of the Filipinos served his cause w/ the pen, demonstrating that the pen is as mighty as the sword to redeem a people from their political slavery. It is true that in our case the sword of Bonifacio was after all needed to shake off the yoke of a foreign power; but the revolution prepared by Bonifacio was only the effect, the consequence of the spiritual redemption wrought by the pen of Rizal. Hence not only in the chronological order but also in the point of importance the previous works of Rizal seems to us superior to that of Bonicacio, because although that of Bonifacio was of immediate results, that of Rizal will have more durable & permanent effects.. His countless achievements and dedication to our country had a lasting impact to us and to others. He sacrificed his own interest to brought changes that even put his life in danger until such time he was sentenced to die. Rizal did not consider himself as the greatest of all his people and of the Malayan race. The Filipinos and the foreigners acknowledge him because of his self-less attitude and undying love for his mother country and his own brother and sisters. I am convinced that he is truly the greatest man among the Filipinos and of the Malayan race, I believed that that there are others who could be the same when it comes to his intelligence but no one could have a high morale such as him.

Jose Protacio Mercado Y Realonda,as we all know he is our national hero,an excellent student,an intelligent person who used his knowledge in fighting for our freedom that the Spanish government stole from us.
I agree to how blumentritt described Dr.Rizal because it is absolutely true.As I read the history of the Malayan race I noticed that no one did the same things that Rizal had done.Although he came from a wealthy family he did not stop or just acting as what we call today "happy go lucky" but instead he keep on discovering something useful things that adds to his knowledge on different matter. He keep on studying and nourishing himself.Rizal saw how the Spaniards abuse the Filipino before, this was the scenes that encourage Rizal to study abroad because he wanted to change the situations.
Among all the Filipino before he only had that determination to made an effort to study not only for his own seek but for the Filipinos also.He is also good in different language in fact he know how to communicate using different language, because he was able to speak 22 languages.I was amazed when i know that he really had that talent because for a person to do it he really need to work hard to achieve it.Rizal strategy was the most accurate way that can be use to reveal the real situations of the Philippines under the rule of Spanish government that time.Rizal contributes a lot for us to to achieve our freedom,he also sacrifice for it,his life is the most precious thing that he give or he had sacrifice to have it.
Although most of his plan doesn't work well as he expected, still he contributes a lot to make some change
Rizal is very famous not only in Asia but also in other country. As far as i know no one did or follow what Dr.Rizal had done, although there are some Filipino hero who fought for our freedom and sacrifice their life but for me he is the greatest among them.

"Not only is Rizal the most famous man of his own, but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced." Ferdinand Blumentritt. Yes! It is true that Jose Rizal is famous on his own way, he proves his worth are capable to fought amongst the Spanish people without even realizing that his life would be wasted but instead he still strong despite all the chances may come. Besides he is a special person to be accounted on because at a young age he poses an extra ordinary intelligence on his professor. He might not consider himself as popular as of now, he became the inspiration of the youth in our generation.
His contribution to our country was forever be remembered to the mind of youngster mind, and will cultivated as time passes by.
He was the pride of the Filipinos for his immeasurable achievement in his life, He is an Malayan race that has the power to provoke, trigger the mind of the Filipino, He is an instrument to his fellow countrymen. There can never ever replaced Jose Rizal for his master pieces, an educated man, who brings our nations freedom. He is a Filipino not only by words, not only in action but it’s the blood that flows in his veins that matters all.
“MABUHAY KA DR.JOSE RIZAL!” your aspiration will be pass in our races, but as long as there is life exist in this world and the people who believes in you…

Last to migrate to the Philippines, according to Beyer, were Malays. They were believed to have come from Java, Sumatra, Borneo, and the Malay Peninsula more than 2,000 years ago. Like the Indonesians, they also traveled in boats.
This is the basis of Ferdinand Blumentrit of saying "Not only is Rizal the most prominent man of his own people, but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced. His memory will never perish in his fatherland, and future generations of Spaniards will yet learn to utter his name with respect and reverence."
For me there’s a possibility that Rizal has a dominant heredity from the Malayan Race;
one is his physical appearance, The Malays were brown-skinned and of medium height, with straight black hair and flat noses just like the description of Rizal.
And compare to the other ancient people like Aetas, Their technology was said to be more advanced than that of their predecessors. They engaged in pottery, weaving, jewelry making and metal smelting, and introduced the irrigation system in rice planting; it means that they have a high intelligence that time. We can easily see the resemblances between the Malays and Rizal, this must be one of the reason of saying that Rizal is the greatest man the Malayan race produced.
But this was disputed by the Indonesians and Malayan races in other countries saying that he is the greatest of the Malayan race means saying the he was the greatest of all among them. For me as a Filipino it is an honor that our National Hero has been acknowledged not only here in our country but in the most part of the world and I’m proud of it knowing that he has a shrine at N. Marine Drive in Chicago U.S and a commemorative plaque in the six site in Paris visited by Jose Rizal. No one can compare the greatness of the Heroism of Jose Rizal, not to mention the highest degree of knowledge that he attain at his very young age, a multi-talented patriot. He was a Doctor, scientist, inventor, businessman, educator, psychologist, artist, poet and writer. He also mastered 22 languages, and his death that opened the eyes of our Fellow Filipino people. His execution was the last straw for other Filipinos who called for a bloody revolution against Spain. I don care what the Malayan race in other countries says, ‘guess they were just insecure to Rizal, for me I am still proud of being a Filipino and I owe this all to our National hero Jose Rizal.

RIZAL, The Greatest among the Malayan Race
Who is Jose Rizal?
Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Realonda or simply Jose Rizal is unquestionably the greatest Malyy and definitely the greatest hero of our nation. It is because as a towering figure in the propaganda campaign, he took an admirable part in that movement which roughly covered the period from 1882-1892. If we are going to look at the works by the filipino writers during this period who contributed tremendously to the formation of Filipino nationality, we shall have no hesitatoin in choosing Rizal's NOli Me Tangere(Berlin,1887). Because this is only the book that had evoked such favorable and unfavorable comments from friends and foes alike as did RizalS Noli.In particular, he thought that the abusive nature of the spanish was the main reason for the filipino's hardships during that time.
Aside from being a doctor,Rizal was also a sculptor, a writer, a scientist, a poet and a polyglot who knew how to speak almost 22 language.
The name Jose Rizal is a byword in every filipino home while his pictures adorn the postage stamp and paper money of widest circulation. No other filipino hero can surpass Rizal in the number of towns, barrios, and streets named after him in the number of Education institutions societies, and trade that bear his name in the number of persons both filipino's and foreigners who were named "Rizal" or "rizalina" because of their parents' admiration for the Great Malayan, and in number of laws, Executive order , proclamations of the Chief Executor, bulletins, memorable and circular of both the public and private schools.
Who is the filipino writer and thinker whose teaching and noble thoughts have been frequently invoked and quoted by authors, public speakers on almost all occasions? None but Rizal, right?
A biographer< Rafael Palma once said "The doctrines of Rizal are not for one epoch but for all epochs" They are valid today as they were yesterday. It is not only becausethe political ideals of Rizal have been achieved, but it is because this was also changed the institutions, the wisdom of this counsels.
Prof. Ferdinand Blumentrit, Who once said, "Rizal is the greatest among the Malayan Race". It is because Rizal is really great. He excelled in all his subjects. It was also him that Rizal's writings were written eith the blood of the heart as German's say. And his work exceeded the hope of people and of the country.
Our country is blessed for having a patriotic man that exercised a determinative influenc eover the progress of it.
I, myself is so proud that I am a filipino, who is enjoying the freedom which was Jose Rizal fought. He is the GREATEST MALAYAN..

"Not only is Rizal the most famous man of his own, but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced."
--Ferdinand Blumentritt-

for me Reality tells us that thought divorced from action, & vice versa, cannot accomplish much. It will only make man either a useless dreamer baking pies in the sky or a vicious beast. Therefore Rizal, representing Thought, should be placed side by side with Bonifacio, representing Action.

Reality also tells us that the neo-imperialistic activities of the Americans still rages on, in the world in general, & in our country in particular. Therefore the possibility of the Americans sponsoring, if not promoting, the propagation of the cult of other peoples that is not hostile, nay, even beneficial, to their interests, could still not be ignored.

Rizal is a great man, no doubt about that. But without Bonifacio, independence may not be attained. Agoncillo has a better way of summing up the student’s view, & therefore has to quote him instead:

Bonifacio may have been ignorant from the point of the middle class, but he succeeded where the middle class failed. The middle class, in their naivete, held on to their mistaken belief that Spain would hear their cry for reforms. Bonifacio, though not highly educated, had more insight than his intellectual superiors. It was this insight w/c led him to found the revolutionary society Katipunan for he knew deep in his heart that Spain would never grant the reforms demanded by the reformists. His insight told him that only an armed conflict could make the Spaniards realize the folly of their bull-headedness. Bonifacio, then, then was the legitimate father of the Revolution, & w/o him it is extremely doubtful whether the Philippine Revolution could have become a reality when everybody seemed in despair w/o doing anything about it. Yet, in the present situation he is overshadowed by Rizal as the national hero…. when the Americans came they found in Rizal’s philosophy of education of the masses first before independence a fitting realization of their colonial policy, namely, that of "benevolent assimilation", & so they promoted & encouraged the Rizal cult. On the other hand, they found in Bonifacio, a common man, a dangerous precedent, for Bonifacio stood for the use of armed might in attaining independence & freedom. For the Americans, therefore, to promote the Bonifacio cult was to defeat their own purpose of discouraging the Filipinos from taking up arms against them…. This is not to disparage Rizal, who was a great Filipino & who deserves all the honors that his memory now enjoys. The point is, that Bonifacio should be placed side by side w/ Rizal as far as the national estimation is concerned.

According to Ferdinand Blumentritt that "Not only Rizal the most prominent man of his own people but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced".
Is it Jose Rizal be the national Hero? For me, Yes of course but it depends on how we defined a national hero.If we defined a hero as one who overcome challenges that would break other people and did it with class and dignity, then Yes I Nominate him, Rizal is more than the greatest hero of the Filipino people, he is more than the greatest man, Then the Malayan Race has produced, In the fact he is one of the world's greatest personalities. Most of the Filipino people know about the history of Rizal,of his honesty and love for the Filipino people. Rizal was patriotic, physician, wherein many Filipinos was inspired with him, he is also a man of letters whose life and literary work where inspiration to the Philippines nationalist movement. When I watch his movies I saw that he was shot by the Spaniards, it is because he was found guilty of encouraging his countryman to take up arms and secure their independence.
Will I was agree with Ferdinand Blumentritt that not only is Rizal the most prominent man of his own people because he influence most of our revolutionary leaders through his writing and he was fought to the Spaniards by using his pen, he wrote what was the spaniards do in Filipino. he was considered as Malayan produced because at the age 35 he was the greatest political enemy of Spain in the philippines with his exceptional liguistic ability and interest in the science and arts, it is most affection in the campaign for freedom as writer. If you could notice how could a man who lived only 34 years have so much impact not only in our nation but around the world. Rizal have a greatest personality a full and meaningful life. when rizal was still alive he never wasted his time in not to much important instead he become busy in his studies and busy also in writing his novel.
When Rizal was a child, when they are in church where they give him a birth some priest said that "Take good care of this child for someday he will be a great man", so if we will notice from that message it becomes truth. So Rizal was a prominent man or a national hero.

The concept of Malay race as I remember in my 2nd year in high school Prof.Otley Beyer a scholar and American anthropologist who came in our country to study our historical existences and race he justify that Filipino are from the Malayan race or Malayo who came through their ships called Balangay as others describe them they were brown or fair in complexion and their height was right.Prof.Otley Beyer theory was the Malays use land bridges to migrate in the Philippines. As they say the pride of Malayan race was Rizal. Why is it Rizal is the greatest Malayan? For me, it is because he is exceptional he is one of a kind.At the age of 3 he learned different things like reading his first book "caton" given by his sister and learning alphabets, memorizing poem and prayer thought by his mother Teodora Alonzo and he can even draw and shown the talents of being an artist, for me it is not usually can be seen in a typical child unless he is gifted.Rizal made sketches and good in molding clay his favorite materials in making art was wax. When he was in his 8 years old he started to write a Tagalog poem which he entitled "Sa Aking Mga Kababata"as I read that poem I was being touched by this line "Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay mahigit pa sa hayop at malansang isda".When he was sent to Manila he graduated as one of thne nine student declared in their class as "sobresaliente" means outstanding. At the age of 16 he graduated with the highest honors from Ataneo de Manila. He pursue medical studies witch he started in University of Sto.Thomas at the age of 24 he completed course in medicine, philosophy and letters at the Universisad de Madrid. He traveled extensively in Europe where he took graduated in courses in Paris and Heidelberg.
Rizal is a linguist he spoke 22 language. He spoke Tagalog and 7 European languages e.g Greek,Latin. He had reading knowledge in Visayan and Ilocano languages. As a boy Rizal shown a bent for designing carious dolls made from wax, clay and candle drippings.Jose Rizal also regarded as the Father of Philippine Comics, because of some numerous drawings he made in Germany he drew a cartoon figure of a typical house containing religions icons.Among other things Rizal is rightful the Father of Filipino Novel he write his masterpiece novel El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tang ere he preferred that the prospect of the novels would express the way Spanish authorities and aristocrats underestimated the capability of a Filipino they called them "indio" means stupid.Rizal writings produced revolt for the Spanish colonizers,he is seeking for the freedom of our country, and to secure political and social reforms and also to educate his country man,ha published the revolutionary works. The strati cal novel exposing despotism of the colonial government and the story of the Filipino driven to outlawry by the rampant injustices committed in their country both novels are vivid pictures of the sad part of the Filipinos during Spanish regime. He made a historical work in which he proved that the Filipino had a wealthy civilization prior to the coming of Spaniards.Rizal is an ophthalmologist, sculptor, magician, historian, educator, farmer, journalist, poetry, architect and has expertise in cartography, economics, ethology, anthropology, sociology, dramatics, material arts, fencing and pistol shooting. He was also the greatest playboy in his era.He also the member of Freemasons a n extensive secret order or a globally and the most powerful fraternity during his time the Freemasons member should be intelligent enough in Spain he become the Master of Masons.Rizal has the authority to be called the greatest of the Malayan race because of his love of his country and to his people.

for me, jose Rizal’s greatest legacy was that he lived a full and meaningful life.
Why was he chosen to become our national hero ? For most people they believe that Jose Rizal was rightly chosen to become a national hero because he influenced most of our revolutionary leaders through his writings and example although other people believe that he should only be declared a hero not “The national hero.” Most people believed that Rizal’s greatest legacy is his love for his country as embodied in his writings and the actions that he took.
Everybody needs a hero. A hero drives us to achieve our full potentials. A hero empowers us to achieve our goals. A hero sets the bar for us on how we should live our life not only for our own self but for the benefit of others. The Philippines have cradled, from the past up
