1. The voyage of Ferdinand Magellan proved that the earth was round and it established the International Date Line. During the voyage, crew members also discovered several animals that were entirely new to European science. These include the "camel without humps", which could have been a llama, guanaco, vicuña, or alpaca and the black "goose" which had to be skinned instead of plucked which is the penguin. Two of the closest galaxies, the Magellanic Clouds, were also discovered by crew members in the Southern Hemisphere. The battle at Mactan on April 27, 1521 also helped the world discover the readiness of the Filipino people to defend their freedom against colonizers.

2. If I am a resident of Bicol Region, I will not approve the proposal of splitting the province of Camarines Sur into two provinces because it will be more costly for there will be a need to build new government offices, schools, and hospitals. This will create negative effects to the people of Camarines Sur like difficulty to adjust and unemployment. Camarines Sur will not be the only one affected by the change but also our national government. Splitting Camarines Sur into two provinces will be an added burden especially to Filipino taxpayers and this will delay projects and developments already set by the present Camarines Sur administration.

3. Philippines having a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521 tells us that Filipinos are already artistic and inventive in early times. It tells us now as a nation that we can create our own culture and government without the influence of other countries. It tells us that we can be independent and can create our own systems in different fields like in writing, music, and governance. It tells us that as a nation, we should treasure our culture because it teaches us new things that we can use in our daily living and that culture made us what we are today.

1. He wished to lead a voyage that sailed around the world. He started off on that voyage, but he didn't live to see the end of it.
*The Spice Islands were the Moluccas, islands rich in spices that were in great demand in Europe. Magellan hoped to sail west, reach the Moluccas, then return home, all the time still sailing west.
* In spite of constant interference by the now insanely jealous King Manuel of Portugal, Magellan had managed to get his voyage in ship-shape and ready to sail. He had kept under control his jealous Spanish captains, who didn't like the idea of reporting for orders to a Portuguese.
They had reached Port San Julian, far south along the eastern coast of South America. They had dropped anchor for the winter. Before he knew it, Magellan was faced with a mutiny. He bravely put down the mutiny, leaving two of its leaders behind, and sailed on. The search for the strait was long and difficult, but they found it. The ships sailed through to the "South Sea," which Magellan named the Pacific Ocean.
2.If i am one of the resident of bicol region I will not approve the proposal of splitting the province of Camarines Sur into two provinces becauseit will affect the economic of camarines sur and also thier resources.
3. If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521,it will tell us that filipino is very artistic and had a good attitude.

1.It was the first voyage to circle the globe, proving that the world was round. It was the first voyage to sail through the American continent and beyond. It was the first voyage to sail the width of the Pacific Ocean.Spice Islands were the Moluccas, islands rich in spices that were in great demand in Europe. Magellan hoped to sail west, reach the Moluccas, then return home, all the time still sailing west.Magellan and his men were armed with swords and covered in armor, but the armor didn't cover their legs and the swords were no use against spears thrown from far away. Magellan was killed in a sudden charge, and his men retreated to their ships.
2.NO, because it will create an effects to the residents of camarines sur they need to adjust

1. From the expediton of Ferdinand Magellan we know that the earth was circle and Between the years 1505 and 1519, Magellan went on many voyages with the Portuguese service. The timeline at the Elizabethan-era website provides dates for all of his expeditions. His first expedition in 1505 was under the leadership of Francisco d'Almeida, on a tour of India. In 1512, Magellan went to Morocco and was wounded in battle. Also in the year 1512, Magellan began to become dissatisfied with the Portuguese king and court. He left the service, and after many refusals of support from the king of Portugal, Magellan left the country in 1518 and offered his services to the King of Spain, King Charles I.

2.if im a recidence from bicol area, i will not agree with that because its better that your region is unite as one and they have a cooperation with each other. and if they will separate we need an another financial support from our government to build another structur of municipality, school, hospitals, and etc.. our government need to give a financial support with them...

3.the filipino culture is very rich that time .We filipino are more artistic and we invented alot of things before the spaniard came to the philippines. and as we all know we have our own alphabet this is "alibata"
and we should be proud of our culture because we have oour own before they come..

1.One of the greatest explorers of the Age of Discovery, Ferdinand Magellan is best known for leading the first expedition to circumnavigate the globe, although he personally did not complete the route, perishing in the South Pacific.
Magellan’s fleet left Seville on August 10, 1519. After stopovers in the Canary and Cape Verde Islands, they headed for Portuguese Brazil, where they anchored near present-day Rio de Janeiro in January of 1520 to take on supplies, trading with locals for food and water.
Magellan was convinced that a new route to the lucrative Spice Islands could be found by going through the New World. He presented his plan to the King of Portugal, Manuel I, but was rejected, possibly because of his past problems with De Almeida.

2.for me,If i am a resident of Bicol Region,I will not approve the bill that split the province of camarines Sur into two province because it can create negative effects to the resident of this province and their lifestyle.

3.Philippines Before the Spanish colonization in 1521, the Filipinos had a rich culture and were trading with the Chinese and the Japanese. Spain's colonization brought about the construction of Intamuros in 1571, a "Walled City " comprised of European buildings and churches, replicated in different parts of the archipelago. In 1898, after 350 years and 300 rebellions, the Filipinos, with leaders like Jose Rizal and Emilio Aguinaldo, succeeded in winning their independence.

2.no, because this will create negative effects to the people of Camarines Sur like difficulty to adjust and unemployment. Camarines Sur will not be the only one affected by the change but also our national government.

3.During the Spanish period, development was focused more on religion. The Spanish culture was more enjoyed and welcomed by the Filipino-Spanish families and the wealthy Filipino families. The Filipino society was divided into three classes: Principalia, Ilustrado and the Masses. Many Filipino made big names in the fields of Music, Art, Literature and Science. Padre Anacleto Cerra's bamboo organ in the church of Las Piñas became popular worldwide. Women had minor roles in the society but were respected by men.

Despite the oppressive control of the Spaniards, native Filipino Culture progressed and developed especially in the outskirts of Manila. The literary world became rich in legends, epics, folktales, riddles, country songs, wise cracks and etc. The famous epics are "Darangan" of the Maranaos, Hudhud at Alim" of the Ifugaos, "Biag-ni-Lam-ang" of the Ilocanos, and "Ibalon" of the Bicolanos.

In the music world, some old country songs can still be heard today. Some of these are "Manang Biday" and "Pamulinawen" from the Ilocanos, "Sitsiritsit" and "Doon Po Sa Amin" of the Tagalogs, "Atin Ku Pung Singsing" from the Pampangos, and "Ako Kini si Anggi" from the Visayas.

1.)*Portugal had claimed as theirs the islands of the Far East as a result of the Treaty of Tordesillas of 1494. Magellan claimed that many of them, including the rich Spice Islands, actually lay in Spain’s territory, that Portuguese maps had been falsified to conceal this fact. In 1513, Vasco de Balboa had found an ocean on the far side of the New World discovered by Christopher Columbus.

*Sailing across the Atlantic Ocean he reached South America at the Bay of Rio de Janeiro by December 13th. They arrived at the estuary of the Rio de la Plata by January 10, 1520 and probed for the passage to the vast western ocean. By March 31st, Magellan decided to spend the next six months there during winter storms. During this time, one ship, The Santiago, was wrecked, a mutiny occurred and was quelled, and another ship was lost to desertion headed back to Spain.

*The voyage proceeded along the coast of South America and on December 18th headed west into the Pacific. One month into the voyage, hardships were encountered. Supplies were depleting, food and drinking water were scarce. Many of the crew died of scurvy. Land was sighted but no landfall was made until Magellan reached the Marianas (or Ladrone) Islands by March of 1521.

2.)SINCE the House of Representatives voted 229-1 to pass House Bill No. 4820 on Aug. 5, carving a new province to be named Nueva Camarines out of Camarines Sur has loomed more real.

The bill though has yet to be taken up in the Senate. If the senators approve it and President Aquino signs it into law, a plebiscite will be called for residents of Camarines Sur to vote on the new province.

3.)The Philippines is the third largest English speaking country in the world. It has a rich history combining Asian, European, and American influences. Prior to Spanish colonization in 1521, the Filipinos had a rich culture and were trading with the Chinese and the Japanese

1.Ferdinand Magellan (Portuguese: Fernão de Magalhães,Spanish: Fernando de Magallanes, (1480 – April 27, 1521) was a Portuguese explorer. He was born in Sabrosa, in northern Portugal, and served King Charles I of Spain in search of a westward route to the "Spice Islands" (modern Maluku Islands in Indonesia).

Magellan's expedition of 1519–1522 became the first expedition to sail from the Atlantic Ocean into the Pacific Ocean (then named "peaceful sea" by Magellan; the passage being made via the Strait of Magellan), and the first to cross the Pacific. It also completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth, although Magellan himself did not complete the entire voyage, being killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines. For background see Exploration of the Pacific.

Magellan also gives his name to the Magellanic Penguin, which he was the first European to note,[1] and the Magellanic clouds, now known to be nearby dwarf galaxies.

The Voyage of Ferdinand Magellan
The fleet under Ferdinand Magellan sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to South America and Rio de Janeiro. Magellan then started to search for a passage to the Pacific Ocean. On 21 November 1520 Ferdinand Magellan entered the straits which would be forever named in his honour - the Magellan Straits - they were to be the first Europeans ever to sail across the Pacific. The names of the Five Ships of Ferdinand Magellan and their commanders were as follows:

Magellan commanded the Trinidad - Ferdinand Magellan was killed by natives on the island of Mactan before the end of the voyage
Juan de Cartagena commanded the San Antonio
Gaspar de Quesada commanded the Conception
Luis de Mendoza commanded the Victoria
Juan Serrano commanded the Santiago

2.No, being a concern citizen of cam.sur i will not approve for dividing into two this provinces in reasoning that it is more complicated to the person who lived in this place. Why? because they start all over again despite of their condition they have a rich culture.

3.As of now in phil. we have rich culture and regarding to the nation that we have right now prior to the coming of the Spaniard in 1521 our nation that we have a stable and good leadership.

1.During the voyage of Magellan, he was credited as the first person to circumnavigate the globe. He transformed an ambitious commercial voyage into a truly historic one, turning himself into one the most celebrated explorer in history. In 1487-1521 Magellan was a Portuguese-born Spanish explorer and navigator, leader of the expedition to circumnavigate, or sail completely around the word. After this, Magellan was a Portuguese commanding an expedition for the king Spain through he had changed his nationality to Spanish two and half years before he still appeared a foreign upstart to the Spaniards accompanying him. And as Magellan felt his way through the strait, he sent San Antonio and Conception ahead to search put points of danger and useful anchorages. Then his officers and crew overpowered their captained, doubled back night and sailed home to Spain.

2.Yes, I will approve that the province of camarines sur would be divided into two provinces. It is to provide the structure of the roads and buildings in the economic system of the provinces. This is also to increase the job opportunity of the people li8ve in the provinces.

3.It tells us that the Philippines become the true nation because the coming of the Spanish regime changes the way of life of the Filipinos. They give different cultures and different names of the Filipino people as the beginning of nation progress.

1. Cite THREE important discoveries that resulted from the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan.

ans:

It was 1522, and the Victoria had just become the first ship to circumnavigate the globe. This voyage opened up the last great unknown ocean and proved, once and for all, that the world is round.

Magellan had always planned to return the way he came when he reached the Spice Islands; he had no intention of circling the globe. But he was killed en route to the islands and the command fell to Elcano, who made the decision to continue westwards and complete the first circumnavigation of the world.

The men had discovered the western route to the Pacific, charted the ocean's true size, made important astronomical discoveries and proved the theory that the Earth was round to be indisputable fact.

It was a triumph of the human spirit - an epic tale of courage and endurance, starvation and mutiny, heroism and death. And it turned one Portuguese sailor, Ferdinand Magellan (played by Eduardo Duro), into one of the most celebrated explorers in the history of the world.

On 17 March Magellan reached the island of Homonhon in the Philippines, with 150 crew left. Members of his expedition became the first Spaniards to reach the Philippine archipelago, but they were not the first Europeans. Magellan's voyage led to Limasawa, Cebu, Mactan, Palawan, Brunei, Celebes and finally to the Spice Islands. Magellan's expedition was the first to circumnavigate the globe and the first to navigate the strait in South America connecting the Atlantic and the Pacific ocean, its name derived from the Latin name Mare Pacificum (peaceful sea), bestowed upon it by Magellan.

2. Yesterday, the House of Representatives approved a bill that will split the province of Camarines Sur into two provinces. The bill will then be submitted to the Senate for deliberations and would also vote. Assume that you are a resident of the Bicol Region, would you approve such proposal to create two provinces? Justify your position.

Ans:
I would depend on the purpose or intention of the one who proposed the bill for doing such. If it was proposed for the betterment of the province and would lead to progress, then i'll agree on ...
I don't think it's necessary to divide camarines sur into two provinces. If this continues, there will be two different leaders taking over each province and the difference on how they manage the provinces would be a question of political controversy.

3. If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521, what does it tell us now as a nation?

Ans:
The Philippines was rich but because our country has been a victim of colonization, the wealth our country has been neglected and more resenting, they abused and used our wealth without regards to both our people and to the nature. Of course, it will always be part of colonization to monopolize properties but what's ours should not be retracted from us because we Filipinos are the rightful owners of our country's wealth...

ANSWER:
1.Ferdinand Magellan set out in 1519 with five ships and 270 men to claim glory for Spain and establish trade ties with the so-called Spice Islands of the Far East. Three years later, just 18 sailors and one ship arrived home after completing the first circumnavigation of the globe. This grand achievement was made more impressive by the fact that it remained the only circumnavigation for the next 50 years (when Sir Francis Drake did it).-He also named the Pacific Ocean for its calm waters.
2.No,the people live there has a right to decide before they do that, and has a right to have a legal territory.
3.well,its good to hear that our nation have a rich culture that must be proud of.It tells us that we need to have a care for it to have more achievements in our country.

Question (1)
The first discovery of (FERDINAND MAGELLAN)

1. Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese sailor in the service of Charles I of Spain, became the first European to navigate the strait in 1520 during his global circumnavigation voyage.

2. Magellan's ships entered the strait on November 1, 1520, All Saints' Day, and the strait was therefore originally named Estrecho de Todos los Santos.

3. The historical event, viewed largely in its religious context in the Philippines but more comprehensively in its global context as a fleeting episode of the 1,081-day circumnavigation of the world, came to pass when Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan and his Armada de Molucca of three sailing ships, landed in the western port of the island of Mazaua.

Question (2)

If i leaved for many years in (Camarines Sur)i say its not a good idea, cause i might get more problem having things around my own town, Barangays and Municipalities might have take time to adjust for its people since it will be seperate in to two towns, many of things around the town will change.

People will start to have their own rules and regulations around each new towns' and even if they dont like the new rules, since the Camarinse Sur will be seperated into two town people have to adjust for it.
and that might cause a problem to the people who once lived in One Piece.
for i cant tell what will be the effect of this seperation but im sure its a lot of Cause that will soon to happen.

Question(3)

1.The discoveries of Ferdinand Magellan.

♥Ferdinand Magellan discovered a route that would allow ships to sail all the way around the world. Magellan's party, which was traveling under the Spanish flag, circumnavigated the Earth in the early part of the 16th century. Though Magellan is credited with this feat, he actually died during the journey; one of his ships completed the circumnavigation for him.
♥A long voyage northward through the Pacific followed, and it was only on March 6,1521, that the fleet finally anchored at Guam.
♥1520, March: Magellan's fleet anchored for the winter at Puerto San Julian in Southern Argentina
2.For me as one of Bicolano. I don't want to have another Province (Nueva Camarines).Because it will have a negative effect in the both provinces, in their new community and municipality to make. And those tourists will be confused about the two Camarines Sur. It will have bad effect not on their community and municipality but also in our Nation.

3.We will have our own nationality, original languages and cultures without any country involve. We will have a good progress in our own way. We will have our own symbols, alphabets and we will be able to do what we want. We are free in all aspects.

1.
* Spanish search for a westward route to.Asia The aim of Christopher Columbus' 1492–1503 voyages to the West had been to reach the Indies and to establish commercial relations between Spain and the Asian kingdoms. The Spanish soon realized that the lands of the Americas were not a part of Asia, but a new continent. The 1494 Treaty of Tordesillas reserved for Portugal the eastern routes that went around Africa, and Vasco da Gama and the Portuguese arrived in India in 1498. It became urgent for Spain to find a new commercial route to Asia, and after the Junta de Toro conference of 1505, the Spanish Crown set out to discover a route to the west. Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa reached the Pacific Ocean in 1513 after crossing the Isthmus of Panama, and Juan Díaz de Solís died in Río de la Plata in 1516 while exploring South America in the service of Spain.

* Departure and crossing of the Atlantic
The arrow points to the city of Sanlúcar de Barrameda on the delta of the Guadalquivir River, in Andalusia.
On August 10, 1519, the five ships under Magellan's command – Trinidad, San Antonio, Concepción, Victoria and Santiago – left Seville and descended the Guadalquivir River to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, at the mouth of the river. There they remained more than five weeks. Finally they set sail on September 20.
King Manuel I ordered a Portuguese naval detachment to pursue Magellan, but Magellan avoided them. After stopping at the Canary Islands, Magellan arrived at Cape Verde, where he set course for Cape St. Augustine in Brazil. On November 27 the expedition crossed the equator; on December 6 the crew sighted South America.

* Death in the Philippines
Monument in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu in the Philippines.
Heading northwest, the crew reached the equator on February 13, 1521. On 6 March they reached the Marianas and Guam. Magellan called Guam the "Island of Sails" because they saw a lot of sailboats. They renamed it to "Ladrones Island" (Island of Thieves) because many of Trinidad's small boats were stolen there. On 17 March Magellan reached the island of Homonhon in the Philippines, with 150 crew left. Members of his expedition became the first Spaniards to reach the Philippine archipelago, but they were not the first Europeans.

2. For my opinion its ok if Camarines Sur into two provinces because the camarines sur is one of largest country in the philippines.

3. If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521, what does it tell us now as a nation. It is already a thriving nation, although not yet unified. People already have their own government, laws, culture, literature...and is freely trading with other nations like China and India. It is not yet called "Pilipinas" or Philippines. If the Spanish never came, we would have been a better nation. Perhaps we will be called "Maharlikas" or "Katagalugan".

The first important discoveries of Ferdinand Magellan was “religion” from which many Filipinos were using catholic religion. Ferdinand Magellan was the first one who bring the cross images of Christ here in our country it serves important things to us and also with other country because until now we still believed by that. Second, Magellan was the first one who search and discovered the “spice island” in Maluku island in Indonesia which really work and help us, to have tasteful food. third discoveries was his observation about the shape of earth which until now we still study and curious about that.

For me, it’s more better if CAMSUR will not anymore divided into two provinces because a lot of changes will happened. And one thing is EXPENSES, because another elected people will elect and our government will provide another salary to them and “the smaller areas that you cover is the less budget you will get” and I think this proposal will not bring improvements to that place.

It tell us that some Filipinos, are still using that culture though sometimes it has a little bit changes . sometimes, this culture will help our country to become famous with other country. And we Filipinos are proud of it though we all know that it such a long time that Spaniards conquered our country and before they went here we have some inherent culture .

1.The voyage of Ferdinand Magellan proved that the earth was round and it established the International Date Line.

2.NO,because it will create negative impact,,especially for the residence on that particular place.

1.*It was the first voyage to circle the globe, proving that the world was round.
*The Spice Islands were the Moluccas, islands rich in spices that were in great demand in Europe. Magellan hoped to sail west, reach the Moluccas, then return home, all the time still sailing west.
*And one more is that Magellan rediscover the philippines.
2.No,because it is hard for those residents of that particular place to adjust, specially in facing another kind of ruling because you are going to elect your governor, new rules to be followed etc.
3.If philippines is rich in culture prior to the coming of spaniards it only tells us that we have our own languages, alphabet which is the alibata etc but as the time goes by those were being change, it is because we are being influnced by other countries.

-He, Ferdinand Magellan together with five battle ships named, Victoria, Concepcion, San Antonio, Santiago and Trinidad arrived at Cebu April 7, 1521
-His plans to discover a path from Portugal to Moluccas proves that the earth is rounded / circular in form.
-it gives way for the Europeans for the discovery of the Philippines and other nearby countries in Asia for colonization that leads to the birth of Christianism in the Philippines.

2.if I were a resident of the Bicol Region, I am not into it because it somewhat gives confusions to us and it takes a lot of efforts for the Philippine Geographer to revise the current map of the Philippines just to separate and create an another independent province. besides we are already familiarize with some provinces in bicol region and its already been a part of our history and it should not be done like that.

3.According to some of the books, the Spaniards was the longest colonizer of the Philippines, we gained a lot of influences from them which is a proof that our country has gained a lot of knowledge from them and not just sufferings,. one of their biggest influence was the Christianism that made a lot of Filipinos to believe in God. we cannot deny the fact that modern day Filipinos are concious when it comes to religion, just like what happened last time about an exhibit at the CCP complex that one of the artist used God's face as his medium or art, lots of people condemned this kind of act that according to them shows disrespect to God and a form Atheism, from that behavior of people we can see that a lot of people really believes in God and do everything just to defend their Religion.

1.Magellan stated that the earth is circle,he also christianize the philippines. Between the years 1505-1519, he went on many voyages w/ the portugese service. In 1512, Magellan went to Moroco and was wounded in battle,He also began to become dissatisfied w/ the portugese king and court, and at the year of 1518, Magellan left the country and offered his services to the king of SPAIN, "KING CHARLES 1"...and at 18th of Dec. The voyage proceed along the coast of south american and headed west into the pacific.

2.no, just simply because the said bill will affect the families who familiarized the said province,, and there will be a big changes that will happen,,

3.I think it will tell us that we are independent country.....

Answer:

1.Magellan had always planned to return the way he came when he reached the Spice Islands; he had no intention of circling the globe.

2.I would depend on the purpose or intention of the one who proposed the bill for doing such. If it was proposed for the betterment of the province and would lead to progress, then i'll agree on ...
I don't think it's necessary to divide camarines sur into two provinces. If this continues, there will be two different leaders taking over each province and the difference on how they manage the provinces would be a question of political controversy.

3.The Philippines was rich but because our country has been a victim of colonization, the wealth our country has been neglected and more resenting, they abused and used our wealth without regards to both our people and to the nature. Of course, it will always be part of colonization to monopolize properties but what's ours should not be retracted from us because we Filipinos are the rightful owners of our country's wealth...

1. Cite THREE important discoveries that resulted from the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan

Among the three important discoveries made by FERDINAND MAGELLAN in his voyage are the following:

a. Magellan was credited to have circumnavigated the world, although he did not live to see it as he died in the way. The recognition was nevertheless, in order, since he was the leader of the expedition that set to accomplish it. Victoria, one of his flagships, set to complete this feat by sailing around westward to Spain.
b. Magellan was the one who christen the Pacific Ocean. Before that, it was called the “Sea of the South.”
c. Magellan discovered the now called “Magellan Strait”. It was named after him in recognition of his discovery.

This practice is nothing new. It is a classic example of gerrymandering. The term “gerrymander” was first started and named after, by Massachusetts Governor GERRY ELBRIDGE. He did so by redistricting or drawing the line of certain districts to serve one’s political ends. Originally, the term signifies the “drawing of electoral district lines to give one political party unfair advantage.” But now in CAM SUR case, the purpose of halving the province in two may vary but the intention is the same. It serves and favors one’s political interests. Whatever that is, it intends to create unfair political advantage over the other party. In my view, this is a divide and conquer tactic. It attempts to prevent the march of progress of CAM SUR as it draws bigger revenues from thriving tourism industry.

3. If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521, what does it tell us now as a nation?

It is something that we can be proud of. It means that we have our own heritage to show off. It goes to show that we are civilized and we can develop as a nation even without the interference of the colonizers the like of Spain.

1. Cite THREE important discoveries that resulted from the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan.

Sailing farther and farther south, the weather became ever colder. Freezing nights and cool days left the crew in serious danger of frostbite and serious illness. Along with the temperatures, the spirits of the crew also fell. Three would-be mutineers were executed and two were marooned for attempting to take control of the ships and to end the voyage. Things became worse when one of the five ships smashed into the beach. All the crew survived, but the supplies and ship were total losses.
In October of 1520, a lookout spotted the strait, later named the Straits of Magellan, and the Pacific Ocean was straight ahead. The good fortune of reaching the Pacific Ocean did not make the travels easier. Suffering amongst the crew members grew as they began running out of food. Extreme hunger caused the men to eat such things as rats, leather, maggots, and sawdust just to stay alive. Along with hunger, scurvy became prevalent. At least twenty men died from complications due to starvation. March 6 brought with it hope when the ships reached the island of Guam. This hope was short-lived when the crew had to defend themselves from the attacks of the native peoples. Food and water from other nearby islands did replenish their bodies and spirits. Magellan's Malaysian slave hailed a group of islanders in their native tongue, giving evidence that Magellan had reached the Orient.

While in the Philippines, the sailors converted many natives to Christianity. These conversions would lead to more problems than anticipated.During an attempt by Magellan to coerce the chief of a nearby island called Mactan to Christianity, the native leader became upset. This chief wanted nothing to do with Christianity, but Magellan, against the advice of his officers, continued to push the man. The chief angrily ordered his warriors to attack Magellan and his crew. Most of Magellan's men fled quickly to the ships while Magellan slowly backed away towards safety. Wearing full body armor, with the exception of his feet, Magellan felt he was safe against the spears of the natives. He was wrong. A native warrior drove a spear into Magellan's foot, wounding him. The rest of the men attacked, killing him on the 27th of April, 1521.
During a previous voyage, Magellan had traveled to the Philippine Islands through the conventional trading routes around the Cape of Good Hope. Though not in a single continuous voyage, Magellan had traveled completely around the earth on a ship. This accomplishment made Magellan extremely famous amongst sailors and throughout all of Europe.

In 1574, Governor General Guido de Lavezarez referred Camarines Sur to the King of Spain as Los Camarines, after the abundance of camarins-rice granaries - which were conspicuous features of the area.
Spanish colonizers later subjugated its people and denominated the area into two distinct aggrupations.

3. If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521, what does it tell us now as a nation? However, even the colonized people grew discontented with the Spaniards over the centuries.

Problems would be solved faster because it would be multiple minds of leaders who will think of the solutions. I just hope that they will agree with each other to avoid conflicts.

It was the first voyage to sail the width of the Pacific Ocean.Spice Islands were the Moluccas, islands rich in spices that were in great demand in Europe. During the voyage, crew members also discovered several animals that were entirely new to European science. These include the "camel without humps", which could have been a llama, guanaco, vicuña, or alpaca and the black "goose" which had to be skinned instead of plucked which is the penguin.

The bill will then be submitted to the Senate for deliberations and would also vote. Assume that you are a resident of the Bicol Region, would you approve such proposal to create two provinces? Justify your position.

answer: yes? to have a bigger baudget for us.

3..If the Philippines has a rich culture prior to the coming of the Spaniards in 1521, what does it tell us now as a nation?

answer: According to some of the books, the Spaniards was the longest colonizer of the Philippines, we gained a lot of influences from them which is a proof that our country has gained a lot of knowledge from them and not just sufferings,. one of their biggest influence was the Christianism that made a lot of Filipinos to believe in God. we cannot deny the fact that modern day Filipinos are concious when it comes to religion, just like what happened last time about an exhibit at the CCP complex that one of the artist used God's face as his medium or art, lots of people condemned this kind of act that according to them shows disrespect to God and a form Atheism, from that behavior of people we can see that a lot of people really believes in God and do everything just to defend their Religion.

2)
...2.No, being a concern citizen of cam.sur i will not approve for dividing into two this provinces in reasoning that it is more complicated to the person who lived in this place. Why? because they start all over again despite of their condition they have a rich culture.

3) tell us that some Filipinos, are still using that culture though sometimes it has a little bit changes . sometimes, this culture will help our country to become famous with other country. And we Filipinos are proud of it though we all know that it such a long time that Spaniards conquered our country and before they went here we have some inherent culture .

1.
- He was the one who brought the religion "Catholic" to the Philippines.
- Due to his goal to reach the spice island, He discovered our country. He was the first one who explore Philipphines.
- He had found out different routines on how to reach different countries through passing Pacific ocean and due to that he discovered that the earth was round. He was able to persuade others and started an expedition.

2.
- If I were to ask, I will not allow that bill to pass. I will vote NO. As a resident, It will take me a lot of adjustments. The resources of our place will also be devided. There will be chances of losing jobs, to the government there will be more expenses for new buildings, infrastracture and systems to be made for the new place. This will be one of the government's burden since we are still financially instable.

3.
- Knowing that fact made me come to a conclusion that all of us, as a Filipino should be proud. That even without those people from the other country did not invade us, still we have the creativity and our originality as a nation. That for who we are not only because of influence but because of the real us, FILIPINOS!

Although it will be spending a lot of money because of the things that they were going to build and a great time to do it,I think the government will provide for the needs.

Philippines History

The important discoveries of the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan, [1] he completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth which proved that the Earth is not flat but it is round, [2] he also discovered the Pacific Ocean and numerous islands, waterways and other geographic information, [3] his expedition also sighted a great many new animals, including penguins and guanacos. The discrepancies between their log book and the date when they returned to Spain led directly to the concept of the International Date Line. Their measurements of distances traveled helped contemporary scientists determine the size of the earth. They were the first to sight certain galaxies visible in the night sky, now aptly known as the Magellanic Clouds. Although the Pacific had been first discovered in 1513 by Vasco Nuñez de Balboa, it is Magellan's name for it that stuck (Balboa called it the "South Sea").
I will stand for approval of dividing the Camarines Sur because it has a big rank area so it would be more easier to govern it, but if you can see the big picture of this bill it only shows that we need more funds to separate it, to build more economic resources and businesses even though yes it is we can be more productive to improve that province into much civilized and good sources of our needs.
Today the Philippines still has a rich culture but our country has being affected by annual and phenomenal and constant that doesn’t change - which is change itself. Our whole nation change as a common nature that is influenced by technological change and the growth of population – yet Philippines today may not be as rich as last 1521 it is still constant for us for having a citizen that concerns for a great life to be experience here in Philippines.

1. Ferdinand Magellan set out in 1519 with five ships and 270 men to claim glory for Spain and establish trade ties with the so-called Spice Islands of the Far East. Three years later, just 18 sailors and one ship arrived home after completing the first circumnavigation of the globe. This grand achievement was made more impressive by the fact that it remained the only circumnavigation for the next 50 years (when Sir Francis Drake did it).

While Magellan did not survive the voyage, he is generally credited with making it a success. In addition to the normal rigors of sea travel in the 1500s, he had to deal with mutinous crews, finding a passage through the dangerous waters that would become known as the Strait of Magellan on the southern tip of South America, and facing the immense waters of an ocean he would name the Pacific (due to the unusually mild weather he experienced while crossing it).

Magellan was born in Portugal, but it was under the Spanish flag that he sailed in 1519 with the intention of reaching the Spice Islands by sailing west around South America. After much hardship he succeeded in reaching and then sailing across the Pacific Ocean. Soon thereafter he was killed while trying to subdue the natives on what is now the island of Mactan in the Philippines. After still more hardships, one of his original five ships, Victoria, eventually made it back to Spain. Though Magellan didn't complete the entire circumnavigation, as the expedition's leader he is usually credited with being the first man to circle the globe.
Portuguese navigator and explorer. Magellan was born to the nobility. From 1505 he served in expeditions to the East Indies and Africa. Having twice asked King Manuel I for higher pay and been refused, he went to Spain in 1517 and offered his services to King Charles I (later Emperor Charles V), proposing to sail west to the Moluccas (Spice Islands) to prove that they lay in Spanish rather than Portuguese territory. In 1519 he left Sevilla with five ships and about 270 men. He sailed around South America, quelling a mutiny on the way and discovering the Strait of Magellan. With three ships left, Magellan crossed the "Sea of the South," later called the Pacific Ocean because of their calm crossing. He was killed by inhabitants of Mactan Island in the Philippines, but two of his ships reached the Moluccas, and one, the Victoria, commanded by Juan Sebastián del Cano (1476? – 1526), continued west to Spain, accomplishing the first circumnavigation of the world in 1522.
1520, March: Magellan's fleet anchored for the winter at Puerto San Julian in Southern Argentina.
2. I don’t agree with that proposal because a lot of changes will happened and the government can’t handle it. Handle first the CAMSUR before creating a new one, it will give them a challenge and another trials, obstacles, struggles and problems in their community to accept this proposal.
3. It tells us that we can create our own culture and government without the influence of others.
