Rizal’s Life and Works
Thursday 7:00am to 10:00am

After reading the “A Child of Good Family” chapter by Leon Ma. Guerrero, I have learned that we do not need money or fame to become happy in life. All we need is a good family who is always there to support us. We should give our family importance because they gave us life and true love. This chapter also tells us that nobody is perfect. Like Rizal, we are stubborn sometimes even if our family is already guiding us. Like the story of Rizal’s mother, we are the young moth who wants to be near the flame even if the old moth already told her that it is unsafe. Sometimes we are blinded by the beauty of things that we sometimes forget that it is already dangerous. As sons and daughters, we should learn how to listen to our parents’ advises before we decide because this will guide us to the right path. We should understand that good parents just want the best for us because they love us and for that, we should love them also in return. We should love our parents and siblings as Rizal loved his family. Even if we excel in something or we already have what we want, we still need our families by our sides and a good environment which is free from violence and abuses in order to be happy. I learned in this chapter that we should not be coward in facing life. Even if we are small and weak to the eyes of others, we should not back down or just give up. We should not be affected and get mad to those who criticize us because it will just lead us to trouble. Instead, we should turn our weaknesses into strengths and use these strengths in order to prosper.

Like Rizal, even if we are small and weak, we should learn how to overcome all our inferiorities for us to succeed in life.

I learned three things in the first chapter entitled “The child of good family” by Ma. Leon Guerero. The first thing I learn is to value education like what Rizal’s family did. By valuing education we will reach what ever our goal is. Like what Rizal’s done. Because their family valued education much, Rizal gained a lot of knowledge. Knowledge open Rizal’s mind in many things and his knowledge was the weapon he used when he fought for our freedom. Even us if we value education today we can also help our nation in many ways someday. Second thing I learn is to obey our parents. We can see in this chapter how Rizal, his brother and sisters respect their parents, they are obedient. I think this is one of the reasons why Rizal has a good family. I learn that by obeying our parents our family will become better and also we will become a better person because our parents knows what is the best for us. Third thing I learn is to love and value our family. We can see that in the family of Rizal there is love and value. We can see the love of Rizal’s parents to him in this chapter because his parents hired an aya to look after him, a private tutor to teach him and send him to exclusive schools. And we can see the love of Rizal to his parents in this chapter because when Rizal was sent away to his parents and enjoy his freedom to play outside with other children; he still found his happiness to his own family. If we love and value our family we will become better and happier just like the family of Rizal. All in all, a good family brings out a good person.

Based on the book of Guerero I would select chapter III which isentitled A child of good family. I rather to choose these chapter because for me it is a story depicts the good relationship between the parents and the child. When I was reading on this chapter I felt insecure because the family Mercado are very supportive to each other which is I cannot feel the same in my family, we knew already that Rizal’s mother Teodora Alonso and other member of the family never failed to remind him what is good or bad.
When Teodora Alonso read a story about the moth I can relate it. I remember the time when my mother was still alive she’s always reminding me not to go here in Manila because according to her this is the place which is such a mess but I did not listen, and she told me if I will insists my decision maybe it might be too late if I will come back home regrets will come. Consequently I went in Manila even my mother disagree about my decision but I don’t have any intention to hurt or disobey her all I want is to help her even in a simplest way. As time passed by I’ve gone to different kind of jobs, store helper, nanny and etc. just to survive and earned money to send to my family at the province, until such time that my employer asked me if I want to pursue my college degree at first I cannot answer it because the money I’m earning is not for my studies but for my family. But then I realize that my employer was right and I decided to pursue my studies, but on the other part the sad story here is my mother died. She didn’t see my perseverance and struggle to survive and to succeed in life journey. I was thankful to God for having an employers who is very supportive and believe in me. Knew that life is not easy but I know time will come just like Jose Rizal said If you have a desire and believe in that desire, you should strive, struggle, persevere until such time you succeed on it. It doesn’t matter fears comes, obstacles and other hindrance to achieve on that desire, what matter’s most is you believe on your power to succeed.

I learned so many things in the chapter “university life of Jose Rizal” by Leon Maria Guerrero. This indicates the colorful life of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal being a student. In this chapter we will know the importance of education not only for Jose Rizal but also to the Filipino student today. By valuing education we will achieve our goals in life like what Rizal did. For me it is very interesting to know the childhood of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Despite of being a good writer and physician, like every one of us he also dreams big and to achieve his dream he study hard. He is an inspiration for me that being a Filipino I can finish my study and have a profession at the same time. And even though I have lots of activities I can continue my study it will became my inspiration to what I want to do. Being a student you should know your priorities in life. What courses you take and in what school you want to graduate. I want to be like Dr. Jose Rizal, he is an excellent student in his every subject. But despite of his Excellencies in his study he also fall in love with some of the girls in their schools. For me it is not awful to fall in love in an early age, but you take it as your inspiration in doing some things. Like Jose Rizal he fall in love with many girls but he did not forget what his goal is and he did not desolate his study. If we value our education we will be a good student and have a profession like Dr. Jose Rizal. I can relate my self in what Jose Rizal experience in his life as a student.

Reflections about University Life of Dr. Jose Rizal
Rizal really loves his family especially his mother, that’s why he studied medicine to cure his mother. As I made my report I saw Rizal as had an artistic talented child. His family was very lucky to have him. He excelled in all his studies, even though he was discouraged by his brother Paciano to his chosen course. He did not bother what his brother but he just listen to his advices. He never had books when he is studying. He was an expert swordsman and a good shot. He also shared many challenges in many cadets. He is very good in writing poems, novel. It was his hobby, writing. It was very admirable to know a person like Rizal.
He was always aware of what Spaniards treat to his fellow student he never considers it. They always insult Filipino students. We must not be hurt if somebody insults us but to take it as a challenge to let them prove what the real true about their insults. Rizal just accepts the discouragement of his brother and let it prove what talent he may attain. So It’s not wrong to hear and gain advices from our family, or friends.
Jose as an adolescence didn’t grab the opportunity to love a girl which was attracted to him. He thinks of the possible that may happen. So he remains disbelieving to love somebody. He focuses more on his studies. This must be followed by the youth today, especially to the student who wants to achieve their goal. Even though they have relationship, we must prioritize first our studies. It is only the treasure that we can hold in this century. We must not value more on money, like Rizal he were born rich he never used his power to attained his goals he trust on his skills that he can be successful even though he had no money. Some people really value their
money, but they are not happy. They cannot use their money to buy long time happiness. They couldn’t remember the people that had help them. It’s happy to help people without waiting for an exchange, like Rizal he risk his life for the freedom of the country, but would all people value him?
I was well-liked of Rizal’s talents and caring to his family. In our times today, it’s just few people that value more on their family especially to youth today. We must remember what our positions in life. Our family are the person who can help us in our problems.

"Religion, Race, and Rhetoric",This chapter gives me a clear view what it is like during the late 1800's,especially the early life of Rizal. It is easy Reflect on this chapter simply because religion is already present even we are not yet on the face of the earth,It can imply that religion plays an important role in our society. It is an institution where most or all people believe in or get strength when all else fails.
Just like Rizal,He was raised in a very religious family, grew up in a society where Catholicism was practice. He was molded and got to study in expensive schools that where run by priest. He was able to witness and compare the difference between groups of friars(the Jesuits and the Dominicans). In our present time,We can still see the presence of these influences simply because the most of the Filipinos are considered and baptized as Catholics, and Churches are everywhere, including those that where built during the Spanish era. Most Private schools are also run by these priests.
If we can recall Rizal considered one Jesuits priest as his favorite teacher(Francisco Paula de Sanchez). Then the young Rizal experienced
maltreatment and discrimination under the administration of the Dominicans who was running the University of Sto.Tomas.And he was able to compare the big difference between the said groups of priest. Talking about "Race" it simply connotes of the ethnicity or sometimes color. Rizal had some blood of Chinese,Japanese and of course Filipino blood running in his veins. We can say that Rizal is an example of a very distinct person, just Like our country we have been occupied and ruled by the different countries which makes the Philippines,A very rich and colorful archipelago when it comes to history and culture. Finally,"Rhetoric" simply shares and talks about the writings of Rizal during his early years. Like his poem " Sa aking mga kabata",it can be considered as great reminder for us that we have to love our own(everything that is very Filipino).

The Child of Good Family

As we read this chapter, we will know how the Mercado family started. The ancestries of Mercado family are mixtures of Negrito, Indonesian, Malay, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish. Rizal’s great-great grand-father on his father side was Domingo Lamco, a full-blooded chinese. The surname Mercado is a Spanish term which means “market” in English. Mercado family is also one of the examples of a big family. But even they have a big family they can provide anything their children necessities. Mercado family acquired second surname Rizal which was given by Spanish alcalde mayor (provincial governor) of Laguna who was a family friend. God blessed the marriage of Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonso Realonda with eleven children- two boys and nine girls. Jose was the 7th out of 11 children. Rizal’s family belonged to the principalia, a town aristocracy in Spanish Philippines. It was one the distinguishes families in Calamba. By dint of honest and hard work and frugal living, Rizal’s parents were able to live well. They were clever and negotiable regarding their agricultural business. Rizal’s parents wanted their children to have a good quality education by enrolling them into top colleges in Manila. Because of their abundant wealth and culture, they were able to participate in all social and religious affairs in the community. The Rizal family had a simple, contented, and happy life. They were strict parents and they trained their children to love God, to behave well, to be obedient, and to respect people, especially the old folks. Rizal was not born to be Hero he is just a like us, but unlike us he not following what other has saying or command, he just follow what was the right thing to do for him and his family. The child of good family talks about how it is important in every Filipino is family. And family is one who reflects what personality you have.

“A Child of Good Family” chapter 3 by Leon Guerrero describes the parents and children relationship. I might conclude from the title itself that the child of a good family is a good or rather a very good child. Like in the story of Rizal, Rizal lived a good life being surrounded by people who really cares and loved him. As an example the parents should be the best friends of their children. Parents should promote family activities which will lead to this friendship, like the relationship of Rizal to his mother, they have a bonding time to each other. His parents were very supportive to him in all the things especially to his study. Even his brother and sisters, they love and care Rizal all the time. That’s a good example of a good family. For me the parents will be the first ones to know whatever is happening to their children, whatever plans or even problems they might have at any given time. The formation of the child begins with the formation of their parents. It is the parents’ own formation that they give to their children. As saying goes, “Whatever the tree, so is the fruit”. more often it is true. It is because also of the fact that parents are the models for their own children, like the parents of Jose Rizal in the story. Unfortunately, however, experience shows that children at their tenders years for now are left most of the time with their housemaids unlike before that normally the mother is the one taking care of their children. The upbringing of the children is the job of both parents not just the mother of the father only as being practiced of the Rizal clan. For now few just doing it. The parents are the primary educators of their children and not the schools as also happen to Rizal. Unlike now that most of the parents relied on what the schools could taught to their children. Parents should be aware that the schools can only do so much , but responsibility is still with the parents which is not being observed now of the busy parents.

Based on all of the chapter in the book of guerrero i would rather choose the chapter wich entitle the child of the good family because it shows about the child who loves his parents and family more than in his self..and a mother who love his son.based on the stories i can relate about his mother teodora alonso how he love rizal, like my mother he always teach me from right from wrong from the time when i was a kid she is always there for me,everytime i am sick she is like a doctor from me..she took me in the good school in elementary, and in high school she didnt stop supporting me in my study eventhough there are times that i didnt follow her,,but still she didnt stop until the time i graduated in high school..but after that i did not continue my study because of we are lack of financial i was very sad and was geting envy to my other classmate that they continue they studies and they ca get the course they want,,but i did not feel angry to my mother because i understand what are our situation so i decide d to look for a job a job that will support my study and as well to help my mother and my family in the age of 16 i started working in a fast food i stop studying for almost 2 years because i said to my self that i will continue my i study if i have enough money to pay for my tuition every pay day almost 3/4 of my salary i always give to my mother sometimes full of my salary i just only get a money that will exact to my next pay day until the time that i got a stable job not actually a stable because i am only regular on my work then i decided to continue my study eventhough it was hard for me,because i wont not stop reaching my goals and my plan for them i dont want to happen again the things i experience the time that they support me this time is time tho return all they sacrifices for me eventhough that it was hard for me but i will do my best to give it all because this is how i love them because i believe that how rizal love his mother is like how i love my family and my mother too..

‘A Child of Good Family’
Being a good person is one of the hardest to be in our life but it seems to be that Rizal was nurture with good morals by his parents. The thing here is that we should always have to obey our parents because parents do all that they can do to raise a good family and it was not as if our parents would let us get harmed. Virtue is what the family of Rizal has. Rizal’s family was a prominent one which would set as an example of being a family model towards others. Family is where love and happiness starts. Being a child also is not that easy there were many struggles we ought to survive, whichever path it is that we will take, our family was very willing to accompany us all throughout our hardships. They were the ones who will push us up whenever we’re down to our lowest disposition.
What I’ve learned in this chapter is learning to appreciate our family, our family has to be valued. I learned that a good family prospers when it was given importance. The love of Parents to their children was a true wealth children can have and a true gift the parents can have is their children. As what an author quoted ‘Good parents are motivated by the enduring happiness of their children--even at the risk of temporary sorrows.” And "It is one thing to love your children and another to know them, but unless you take time for both; neither will be believed."
We must love our parents and parents should love their children too. Family understands it all..

This family also support Dr. Jose Rizal in the way that they gave all the things that Dr. Jose Rizal needed. And during the time that Jose Rizal was a child his father decided to give Rizal a Aya or Nanny so that there will be the one to protect and guide him in the times that his parents are not around. I have observe also that Rizal is so special to his parents other than to his brother and sisters. in time of Rizal education to him is so very special.he always value his education...

answer
I've chosen the chapter of the"A CHILD OF GOOD FAMILY" because I've learned a lot things in this chapter. I have seen how Meccado's family appreciated and supported in jose studies. The Mercado's family is the one of the model of a good family or parents in this generation or else in the next generation. I really like the Mercado's family because they have a good relationship to each other especially to donya Teodora and jose. The family of Jose valued the education so that they support jose in his studies because they want jose to have a good future.
I realized also that education was very important to us especially to me because this is the way to have a success life and to achieved our dreams in life.
I want to show to my parents that I'am very lucky to have them because even they difficulties with their works or job i still studied.I really appreciated their sacrifice So I should just change their suffering through studying good.

" A child of the good family"
I learned in " A child of the good family" of Guerrero is if you are a good daughter or son and you love our country maybe you also become a hero. And I believe in what Rizal say that the youth is the hope of our country. Because when he was a child, he is also a hope of our country in the way of study and his intelligence. He is become hero because of his writings and he know about the wrong rules of Spaniard in our country because he loves our country and also his fellow Filipino citizen. In a way of writing he fights and to know the Filipino what he want to know about the wrong rules of Spaniard. Although he knows that he is going to kill by the Spaniard because he not agrees to the wrong rules of Spaniard. We, the youth of our country maybe we are become a hero someday although we are not like Rizal that have a excellent brain, in the way of helping our neighbors, obedience our law and become a good citizen of our country.

Answer:

When we discussed about “A Child of Good Family” I've learned a lot of things. When he
was a child he is not like an ordinary child. he is not playing in the streets like other children he was on their Asotea. His family loved him so much, they give more importance to Jose Rizal.Rizal's family has given its importance to study.so he even able to study wherever he will.Jose Rizal and his family having a good relationship,I admire their good relationship with each other.

The strong bond can give the progressive in the country.Because as of now a bond of a family will can not be seen nowadays. For me family is very important to someone like me because they are our source of courage to pass the struggles in life.

Jose Rizal is very lucky to have a responsible and supportive family. That's why Jose Rizal do his best to be a good child and sibling. As a good child he studied very well so in that way his family will be proud of him.Their family is one of a good model to the society especially to the broken families. And also their family posses a very wonderful role in our society today, in addition with that Rizal's family is a symbol on how to raise a family in terms of teaching young ones..

Jose Rizal was a man of incredible intellectual power, with amazing artistic talent as well. He excelled at anything that he put his mind to - medicine, poetry, sketching, architecture; sociology... the list seems nearly endless.

In the chapter University Life, it showed how excellent Rizal is beginning from childhood and how he was honed when he entered universities by dedicating himself to exploring more of knowledge. Despite and in spite of discrimination of Filipino Students and unfair treatment between Filipino and Spanish students, he was still able to surpass them all. He questioned some teachings and old way of teachings that was taught to them that was somewhat obsolete just to hinder Filipino students from excellence and keep them believing in ignorance. But still, when Jose Rizal Mercado attended the Ateneo Municipal de Manila, he graduated at the age of 16 with highest honors. He took a post-graduate course there in land surveying.
One of Rizal’s inspirations in the University is Padre Paula Sanchez, his much esteemed professor, friend and mentor.

Reaction Paper
In Rizal’s day his college life was very unpredictable and amazing. Rizal was no ordinary student; he is amazing in a way of his body structure to his big amazing brain. I am amaze to Rizal to how he manages the academic’s and proving to all that Pilipinos and Spaniards are equal. Then as a college student I experience some of his doings when it comes in campus. Then I’ve also amaze on his dorm experiences, he was a NPA when it comes to dorms, why? Cause he did not like his dorm mates. Some of them are jolly and talkative that’s why when I know his experience I’m amaze and also tickle my ears. From his professors I’m amaze too because they treat Rizal as a true hero even if he is an Indio they said, and then 3 of his professors were amaze and believe in his talent. Then I’m shocked cause when he transfer in a Dominican school 2 of his subject were excellent even if he hates his course he study and study not only for the sake of himself and also for the sake of the mankind. Then he pursue his dream to attempt passing and going to Ateneo, I’m amaze on his versatility as a Pilipino for doing such an impressive carrier in Ateneo, and an undying spirit to go and enrolled in one of the best schools now which is Ateneo. And also in a brief story of Rizal I’m amaze also in his family and to Rizal’s mother and father, for doing such anything to protect and grow Rizal as a God fearer and a good citizen to the Philippines. And lastly in Rizal’s college life and also his family background I’ve been enlighten I have many things to learn about Rizal so now I’m interested what’s next from Rizal’s life and works.

Rizal’s great-great grand-father on his father side was Domingo Lamco, a full-blooded chinese. The surname Mercado is a Spanish term which means “market” in English. Mercado family is also one of the examples of a big family.

And family is one who reflects what personality you have.
the Rizal family had a simple, contented and happy life. Rizal's have a strict parents and they retained their children to love god. i wish i have that kind of life.

As i read the article "a child of a good family" by Leon Maria Guerrero, I find Rizal's life more interesting to know. I mean there are plenty of things that we still dont know about rizal. for rizal, despite of his imperfections it is not a hindrance for him to quit and to give up in the trials that came to his life instead he prove it that he can make it and he fight for his rights and freedom. Rizal was a good child to his family speciallly to his mother simply because he did everything fot the sake of his mother and family. Now i know that medicine is not his passion, but he took the course medicine because he wants to cure the illness of his mother from cataract. rizal raised by his parents as a good child, beacuse he was so thankful for having a mother like toedora alonso(mother of rizal), because his mother taught him everything and he owe that to his mother. for me family is the most important thing to have and to live in this world, because without them we are nothing. so we should value our family because they are the only person who can trust us and who can build our confidence. And for me rizal is one of the example that we should follow and be thankful that he is part of our history. lets put to our minds that you will have nothing if your family is not by your side. anything can be stolen by anyone from you but your family, knowledge no one can take that from you if you will just give importance to that things.

College Life

In a "Child of Good family" by Leon Ma.Guerrero, i learned that a good family is a good reflection to as.And all we need is a good family who is always there to support us. We should give our family importance because, they gave us life, true love and caring for as always. the family of Rizal valued education much, Rizal gained a lot of knowledge. Knowledge open Rizal’s mind in many things and his knowledge was the weapon he used when he fought for our freedom. Even us if we value education today we can also help our nation in many ways someday. Second thing I learn is to obey our parents. We can see in this lesson how Rizal, his brother and sisters respect their parents, they are obedient. i learn also that we need to respect, love, and care for our parents.
If we love and value our family we will become better and happier just like the family of Rizal.
A good family brings out a good person. Even if we excel in something or we already have what we want, we still need our families by our sides and a good environment which is free from violence and abuses in order to be happy.

A CHILD OF GOOD FAMILY
REFLECTION:

In the article titled “A child of a good family” described the Kalamba as a very dreary town but despite of that Jose Rizal was still happy to live there. As I read the article, I surely understand why I still love the place where I grew up even though it is not a place that everyone dreamed of. It is where my happy moments with my family and childhood friends started, same as Rizal.
Most of the time, I did not pay too much attention to read and study any books and other readings my instructor asked me to read. I might read it but I just do it without understanding. It is because I did not understand some of the words used and it is not in my interest. Not knowing that the readings I refuse to read contains many interesting information and lessons that can guide and give me lesson in life. Same as Rizal as he feels boredom reading Spanish book that he read without understanding. His mother let him realize that the old book contains a very nice story that gives him a lesson. It was the fable of the old moth and the young moth. Relating to the lines “This dreadful fate, The disobedient rate”, I learned that we should obey our parents because they only want what is good for us. When I am young, my father and granny used to tell me that when I grow up I should not engage myself to smoking. Out of curiosity I did not obey them. Smoking is very inviting but being a beginner I did not know yet the bad effects to my health. I just know I feel good when I smoke. We know that smoking is addictive. It is too late when I understand that it is very dangerous for my health. It is hard for me to stop but I am really working on it.

“A Child of Good Family”

When Rizal was still Child her mother, Theodora Alonzo told him about the story of the old moth and the young moth. The old moth, which is the mother of the young moth, told him not to stay close to the flame of the lamp as it may harm him, as he gets closer. This story or fable can be interpreted in many ways. Can be a warning from Theodora to teach Rizal to stay not closer or to join the revolution against the Spaniards as it may hurt him or put him to death. In our modern days, the story or the fable of the two moths has to do or to remind the teenagers to be careful in everything they do and stay away from the temptation. Because teenagers now a days are easily tempted. As we see in our society, many of the teenagers are now already parents and already have their child at the young age. They are now facing the responsibilities of being a parents instead of studying with their young age as Rizal stated that he can not blamed the moth because the light or the flame is very beautiful and attractive that you can not resist it. It is also like some of the teenagers they cannot resist what they feel so they just let go of their feelings without thinking what will happen after what they have done.

Paciano his older brother took Rizal to Binang to continue his studies in a private school there. Rizal was not very happy in his school. Like Rizal, most of us feel a little bit awkward if we are not that familiar of the place and the people that we get to be together with. Rizal’s classmates always teased him because of his small stature and being weak of his body. In addition, since Rizal was also sensitive he was unable to take a joke. He was often in troubled because of it. Like Rizal, most of us have insecurities, like me, I envied those pretty and those who are confident enough to face other people. Because obviously I am not that pretty and sometimes I lacked trust in myself if I could do the things right and if I could do it flawless. But unlike Rizal, I am not teased by my classmates maybe they do but they did it secretly??! Moreover, unlike Rizal, I am not that sensitive as he is because I admire those people. They are my inspiration for me to work harder and for me to reach them.

As I reflect on him,I realize, time and again that He is truly an amazingly , im not like him act as a genius, excellent at all , or zoologist etc. That no one can compare to. Not the same with his totally situations but if I look as a whole , like him I also encountered social,or even hearth problems . sometimes Dr. Jose Rizal graze on my mind that I could say , he works in my life in ways that are so mysteriously wonderful. I im trying to be like him , not totally the same on what he have done as a Filipino citizens gave his life but in a simple way of adherencing to our own.On how many years passed by, some events in Rizal’s life were the same with me and to others. In the same situation but in different way. Like on Jose Rizal’s Life, I also remember myself act a childish, being childish, play with others and to think with curiosity and ask questions without malice. .. I remember on what our class reporter discussed, about being a “child of good in family” of Pepe on his early childhood , Pepe did his best to be a good son to his parents and to be a good brother to his sister and brother Paciano. On the other hand like Pepe I also experienced bored on studying every day. According to his biography , on the night which he was scolded by her mother Teodora Agoncillo , because he is not paying attention on their lesson. that’s why her mother started to tell a story which was entitled “the legend of the moth”. On that time her mother successfully got the attention of Pepe to listen on her. Her story having geat sense for him to Pay warning to him as he goes to developed and grow older.
Sometimes through storytelling, parents enticed us to be able to follow them to study. And I admit that I also encountered that kind of strategy by my mother.

A Child of a Good Family
Everyone has lucky to have a good family because this is the only way to have a bonding to each other. And the important is to give our love and give them a respect to our parents. Rizal has a good family because he deserves of what he make it with his family and I know he very loves them so much. He is always there to protect his his family. And the way to give his best to finish his study for the sake of her mother and pursue his goal in life. I know Rizal, he is a very talented child and have a good attitude the way he talk to his parents. And I really appreciate to have the family that he have. Although their family is very simple but attractive to those people who really loves rizal. I learned that the family is very important thing to us because it can help us to grow up like Rizal. And is such a big thing to have it.

Jose Rizal is a great hero and Jose Rizal is made the model of all student because he supposed to have graduated with a grade of sublieutenant excellent in all subject. The some grade Rizal had.So how could Rizal graduate at the top of his class matter of fact.Rizal admits his envy of a classmate named anson whon he admits was better than he but then Rizal become a hero and anson remains forgotten then of course nobody talks about the grades Rizal received at the royal and pontificial university of santo tomas which were not as impressive as those he earned in the ateneo.Have you ever asked why all these have been kept from us.Then there is the question of his doctorate.Rizal did finish a licentiate in medicine and took up specialization in professionally licensed to practice medicine academically he was not a doctor because he did not sit for the final exam leading to a doctorate in medicine

Rizal's Life and Works
Thursday 7:00-10:00

After reading the child of a good family by leon Ma.Guerero, I have learned to value education like what Rizal's family did. Family is the foundation of every one of us,Rizal's family valued education much, by valuing education we will reach our dream and goals in life. Education is really important to us especially to the filipino student today.I also learned this chapter by obeying our parents and family,Our parents lead way from bad choices to good ones by simply showing them a better way,and making our expectations clear and reasonable. Our parents knows what is best for us to become a better person. We must prioritize first our studies It is the only the treasure that we can hold,Education is the best inheretance that parents can give to their children. We must not value more on money.like Rizal he was born rich but he never used his power to attained his goals,he believes on his skills that he can be succesful. If we value education we will be a good student and have a profession in different fields like Dr. Jose Rizal. In our times today, its just a few people that value more on their family especially to the youth of today.

I chose the Chapter IV which entitled Religion, Race and Rhetoric. In this Chapter of Guerero's book what i have learned is that Rizal really valued his spiritual life through going to church even in his young age, he also became one of the member of different confraternities in the Jesuit school. He also valued his education, doing a lot of things just to nurture his self with all the knowledge that he might be gaining. He excelled in many subjects in his school days in ateneo. He was also admired by his professors in his superiority in terms of academic subjects. It is good to know that even in his young age he already had this gift of mind together with the love of his family. He was blessed with different talents and because of the help of the people that surrounded him he completely became the best of all the best. After reading the few chapters of Riza's life i was astonished by what he had gone through, amazed with all his effort to cultivate his knowledge with the word of God and with the virtues that his family and beloved professors inculcated to him. I have learned that we have to garnish our life with the sacraments of God that whenever there are evil things that might test our strength and faith we are not easily be defeated. As a student i want to expose myself in knowing God for if we know God we will know what are the right things to do base on his words because even we strive hard in our studies we are still nothing without God. We also have to value education, and avoid all the temptations that might ruin our goals, we have to be a keen observant in all the things that surrounds us for we might not know it is already the trap that might cause us death. We have to be more determined in all the ambitions that we have, give the best of us like what Rizal did for it will be our key to our dreams and success.

UNIVERSITY LIFE

University life of jose rizal is somewhat the topic that I just have reported in our class. I did not understand it in the first reading I just read the article 5 times before I really understand it.
University life of jose rizal is very admiring for a college student like me. Upon knowing all his works, writings, struggles, happy and bad moments of his university life, I just cant help myself to compare jose rizal from me.
I was so glad and thankful that I enter the third level of education which is college despite of being poor. My father is the only one who is responsible and supporting us, because unfortunately my mother was died when I was just to years old, which I consider as the most embarrassing moment of my life.
I know the fact that my father can never support my studies in college anymore. I am sad and lonely because I lost the chance to study, I stocked at work for almost 2 year,. But the aim to study still with me. I felt so very happy that time because finally my dreams will come true through EDUCATION. I gratefully grab that opportunity.
Now that I am in college, I will make jose rizal as my inspiration, his passion and determination to have an education and knowledge. Those quality that rizal has which make me admire him most will be my guideline for reaching my goals and attaining success in life.
Jose rizal will always be my national hero who made a great contribution in attaining the liberty of our nation. I believed that through EDUCATION, we will be like jose rizal. We can make heroic deeds too. Let us just study hard and have the aim to finished our studies.

University Life

As I heared the report of my classmate about the university life of Riza, I was admire Rizal on what he had finished when he was in his university life. Comparing to my university life, I admit that I'm not so good like Rizal, Rizal was so very studious not like me. He is fun of reading books, composing poem and novels, I can say that he is a gifted child.
I remembered when I was first year in our school, I felt nervous ad scared because I dont have any idea on what will happen to me on the first day of class. I thought that collge life is so very hadr and yet my conclusion is right. First it's so hard for me because I'm not so studious like Rizal but then I realized that I can be not like Rizal but a good student. I remembered when my mother told me that I should study hard for me to have a better future. Yes, I believed to what my mother had said to me because its true. Education is a key to success.
In my case, I should finish my study because I'm just the one who are studying in our family. I'am greatful that my father have sent me to school not lkie others. There was a time that my father was hard to sustain my study that's why i decided towork for as to help him. Then I realized that its very hard to earn money, you should have a stable job in the future so that you will not suffer and you will have a better life.
Now I'm longing to my mother's care because she's far wawy from me but I should make it as a motivation to study hard so that we will have a better future not just for my self. I will make Rizal and his life as my inspiration to continue and to pursue my study.

Based on what I had read about a child of a good family, According to the book of Guerero herecounts the life of Jose Rizal since he was birth. I was lucky to know that Rizal gave birth at the middle of 11-12 and it is full moon.I am very proud to have a child that is talented just like Rizal. He almost knows the names of the birds in the orchards of his father. When he was 3 years old he can read the alphabet that no one can do it. I am stuck by his mother because he taught Jose Rizal how to read Spanish book called The Children’s Friend. She never had been tired of teaching him.
I never experience that my mother taught me how to read or reading a fairy tale on me. Rizal grew tired of listening to sounds that had no meaning on him. I found myself with Rizal, because if did not understand the story that was her mother read he was curious if what is it all about. He remember when he was four years old that he lost her sister concha. Which I also remember when I was 9years old my grandmother lost me in Binanlaguna.
He never forgot that his classmate in Binang had given him unpleasant nicknames, and took considerable satisfaction.
He was so happy when he left Binang, because he heard that his cousin took him abroad.

A child of a good family made me understand the childhood life of Jose Rizal. I also understand the parents of Jose Rizal when they gave yaya and private tutor to Rizal because as a mother, i wanted to point out the studies and health of my daughter because she is also talented. I admired Rizal when he shifted in course medicine, because he found out that her mother had a cataract. I also see myself to his mother because before bedtime I read fairytale stories to my daughter Mariel. We both really had fun when we share our own stories of what had happen the whole day. Every week I am posting an English word and its meaning. So that she will know a lot of vocabulary words. I really see to it that even though I am studying and had a lot of household chores, I give time to spend with her. I am not born small and big headed like Rizal, but I admired the family of Rizal for giving him much attention because of his inferiorities. He grew up that he felt the love and care from his family. It is not wonder that Rizal would be like them, loving and caring for others especially for our country. It was really important that during childhood, that you can teach them good moral I is because you can keep it the rest of your life. I really learned a lot in reading their part of Guerero’s book about Jose Rizal.

A CHILD OF A GOOD FAMILY

Upon reading the article “ a child of a good family”, I was the realized and imagined myself as I am jose rizal. I myself too consider that I belong to a good family. Only that our difference was jose rizal was so intelligent and had really a talent specially in poetry and writing.
I accept in myself that I am not that intelligent as jose rizal, although I have the passion to study and to finished my studies. I want to be a successful one in the future, not only for the good sake for my own self but also to help others specially my family and the family of my own that I will be going to build also.
I also accept the fact that I myself is not as good as rizal during his early education but I used to make my parents so proud of me by just being attentive and showing them that I always enter my class. Because of that during my elementary days, I got ribbons and medals which made my parents so proud of me.
I just really felt the love of my parents and relatives to me I felt that I am very important and worthfull of them for them not for the fact that I was the youngest of their child. I love my family specially my mama and papa as well, but during my high school days, I just don’t know what happened to me. Maybe because of the influence of “BARKADAS”,
I just moved away from being a good and responsible student. I made my parents mad at me and I know that they are really disappointed at me,, but at the end, I just realized that all I did was just to ruin my studies, my relationship to my family and also my life.
But now that I am in college days, I am doing my best and giving all that I can just to finish my study I consider jose rizal as my inspiration in achieving my goals in life, my admiration to him will be my guideline in passing through the problems that I may encounter, Jose Rizal will always be my inspiration in studying because he had just influence me good thing most specially the importance of EDUCATION

I really admire how Leon Maria Guerrero explain the “A child of Good Family” of Jose Rizal one of our hero’s. Even the other book of Guerrero its really nice..
When Guerrero explain the “the chapter of University life of Jose Rizal” I learned everything. Despite the combined pass through of Jose Rizal, in belittling him. Its not barriers to achieve his dream, despite of all the he never treat it as the failure, instead he used it as inspiration to strive more.
I really appreciated of what our national hero’s done his remarkable ability. Even though he don’t like the first course he took up, he still passed the subjects. In this part I realized that Jose Rizal is so genius, I have not heard who reach or the same what education of Jose Rizal. Jose Rizal was a talented person.. he so excellence in everything.. so, its not a surprise anymore that many girls obsessed to him .
Even he fulfilled his dream to be a lawyer, he was still successful in everything.
How I wish I seen Jose Rizal while he study. So that I know what he do everyday.

Leon Ma. Guerrero’s “A Child of Good Family”

After reading the “A Child of Good Family” chapter by Leon Ma. Guerrero, I have learned that we should love and respect our family. It is one of the characters that molded our little Pepe, the love and respect that he once gave to his mother and other siblings is one of the best characters that help Dr. Jose P. Rizal fulfill all his dreams in life. It all begins with the childhood of our little Pepe with his siblings, with the guidance of his brother Paciano and especially of her mother Teodora during his young age, our little Pepe was been guided with strict family values with love of God, love of country and love and respect to an individual. With these great values, all I can say is that we must love and respect our family. Family is one of the best foundation that molds our personality to achieve all our dreams and wants in life. Sometimes in our life we became stubborn and selfish. We want to show the world that we can make our own decisions and just do things without thinking what will happen next. Yes! In some point it’s wrong and so sad but in some point we must do it just to prove our self that we our strong. Just like are little Pepe he also encounters a lot of problems, challenges, stubbornness and a little of selfishness. But in the end the love and respect to a family remains. It is once said of our great hero that we must always give respect to others. As sons and daughters, we should learn how to listen to our parents’ advises…. just like our little Pepe….before we decide because this will guide us to the right path. We should understand that our parents want the best for us because they love us and for that, we should love and respect them.
