Madame:
Greetings!
I would like to ask for your permission to allow my students enrolled in Economics with LRT in C5 Campus to attend a lecture discussion on Emerging Issues in Population class of Dr. Jonathan David Flavier, of which I will serve as the moderator. Dr. Flavier is a professor of Population Institute, a physician by profession, and the son of former Senator and DOH Secretary Juan Flavier. The lecture will be conducted at the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Population Institute, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City on September 3, 2011 (Saturday), 9:00 o’clock in the morning until 12:00 o’clock noon.
Speaker for the said lecture is Dr. Maria Midea Kabamalan, a professor of demography at Population Institute, UP Diliman. Dr. Kabamalan received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of the Philippines and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Hawaii.
Our main objective is to expose students to alternative classroom learning experience by actively engaging in a lecture-discussion. In addition, the students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking by relating different emerging issues in population to economics.
Attendance is on voluntary basis. Should the student opt not to attend the lecture, this will not affect his/her class performance. In addition, this lecture is free. No registration fee will be collected from the students.
Thank you so much for your usual support.
Sincerely,
MARLON B. RAQUEL
Course Instructor
