Assignment in Philippine History
Elvie T, Rebutazo
There are two theories on where the First Filipino came from namely: Beyers migration and Jocano’s Evolution. The migration theory of Beyer that the first Filipino called the “Dawnmen” (or “cavemen” because they lived in caves.).The Dawnmen resembled the java man and the peking man and other Home sapiens, they did not have any knowledge of agriculture, and lived by hunting and fishing. But according to Jocano this belief s will be corrected.Jocano’s further believes that the first Filipinos are the products of the long process of revolution and movement of people, this not only holds true for.
According to Jocano’s findings, the prehistoric islands of Southeast Asia were of the same population as the combination of human evolution that occurred in the islands of Southeast Asia.He state that ancient men cannot be categorized under any of the historically identified ethnic groups were Malays,Indonesians,Kayumangging Filipinos of today, and there is a Hindu Buddhist Pagans while others were muslims. The Hindu Buddhist Pagans were converted to Christianity by the Spaniards.
Base on the two theories that I read, the first Filipino migrants where came from the different places.but I agree about the ,migration of Henry Otley Beyer. He said that the second group of migrants was composed of dark-skinned pygmies called “Aetas” or Negritoes, that’s why the Filipino have a curly hair, then the Malays also were have brown-skinned and of medium height, with straight hair and flat noses, and I believe that the first Filipino have already a knowledge to know how to make a jewelry and metal smelting.
