♥DAR Hosts Seminar on Climate Proofing for Agrarian Reform Communities

This article talks about on how we can cope up with the climate change. Climate change in this article is the cause why there were floods, result in food shortage, and increase in water and airborne diseases, infrastructure damage and of natural resources degradation here in the Philippines. To avoid or prevent these causes of climate change the DAR conduct a seminar to the farmers for them to adapt it, the implementers that planting trees, , using bio-friendly fertilizers, organic farming, are just some of the ways the farmers can use to help lessen climate change. I see this seminar as effective for us to avoid and lessen the calamities and crisis cause of climate change.

♥Farmers Reap Fortune thru Patience, Perseverance

In this article shows that the program that DAR conduct had been effective and gave a big help to those farmers for them to help their selves to increase income. They had a project where farmers were trained six-months for vegetable production with the used of the new farming technique. The project of DAR also taught the farmers on developing, producing and marketing of their vegetables. And there are testimonies that show that the project of DAR really helps those farmers for them to increase their income.

♥Agrarian Beneficiaries to Benefit from Irrigation and Road Projects

This article talks about on rehabilitating of the communal irrigation system and to complete the farm to market road project. This project of DAR will be a big help to those farmers and residents because it will make the transportation easier of transporting farm products in to the market. It was said that about 60 of the 530 ARBs in the ARC will directly benefit from the irrigation project, while some 1,686 residents here and in nearby villages will be benefited by the farm-to-market road. Hope that this project of DAR or Department of Agrarian Reform will be successful for our fellow countrymen to benefit from it and will have a better transportation.

1.DAR HOSTS SEMINAR ON CLIMATE PROOFING FOR AGRARIAN REFORM COMMUNITIES.
- The warning is dire. Scientists say that even if the earth’s hot temperature on global warming is reduced significantly in the coming years, climate change impacts such as droughts, floods, and other severe weather events are likely to result in food shortages, increase in water and air-borne diseases, infrastructure damage and the of natural resources degradation.

To help farmers adapt to these inevitable eventualities, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development (or GIZ) recently conducted a five-day seminar-workshop on “Climate Proofing for Development: Practical application for agrarian reform communities” at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila.
-Undersecretary for Special Programs & Agrarian Relations Rosalina Bistoyong said the seminar-workshop seeks to understand and learn how to adapt to the climate changes and integrate it in development plans for agrarian reform communities.
- “Climate adaptation ways like planting trees, composting, using bio-friendly fertilizers, organic farming, are just some of the ways the farmers can use to help mitigate climate change,” said Corrine Canlas of GIZ.
- “This course will help our implementers in making necessary developments plans so that our farmers will be able to cope, adapt and sustain their livelihood in the face of climate change,” Bistoyong said.

2.FARMERS REAP FORTUNE THRU PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE.
- CAPOOCAN, LEYTE – Farmers here have attested that patience and perseverance do help them increase their income. The farmers attended a six-month intensive training on year-round vegetable production, courtesy of the East-West Seed Philippines.
- Besides teaching the new farming technique, the East-West Seed Philippines together with the local government unit also offers credit for farmers’ start-up capital.

DAR PROVIDES WATER AND SANITATION FACILITIES IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

I enjoyed reading this article because it showed how DAR could change the lives of everyday Filipinos for the better. DAR launched the Community Managed Water Supply, Hygiene and Sanitation (CPWASH) project in the areas of Eastern Samar, La Union and Davao. The project would help train the farmers of those areas to create, operate, and manage cheap potable water and sanitation systems. This in turn would highly eliminate diseases of the rural areas like E. Coli, diarrhea, amoebiasis, and dysentery that are found in contaminated or dirty water. The project would also instruct residents on proper hygiene and sanitation for better health. Definitely a step in the right direction for the rural community.

FARMERS REAP FORTUNE THRU PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE

In this article, farmers have benefited from DAR's Agrarian Reform Communities Development Project (ARCDP). The farmers who participated in the project attended a intensive 6 month training on year round vegetable production courtesy of the East-West Seed Philippines. Their results were extremely positive. Some farmers reported that on the initial harvest alone, they made enough money to cover the expenses spent on the seeds, land preparation and other miscellaneous expenses. Another farmer reporter that before the training, her previous income of P440 ballooned to P30,000 after she had enrolled in the school. Amazing. The program not only showed the farmers what kind of vegetables to plant, but how, when and where. This improved the quality of the vegetables and maximized production. Very good.

FIELD STAFFERS IN PRIORITY AREAS BEEFED UP

DAR Secretary Gil de Los Reyes is pushing for a faster distribution of the remaining one million hectares of land by 2014. Focusing on certain areas of the Philippines which account of 70% of that remaining land, he feels it should be distributed to the many and that it is not good for society for the land be held by only the few. Distributing the land with a sense of urgency would create many more individuals and farmers who would focus more on their specific part of land than have one person have a big portion of land and end up ignoring many parts of it. Not only does Reyes want the land to be distributed accordingly, but also assist the farmers as best they can so the land can reach its full potential. I believe this is great since it will help the neglected lands of the Philippines grow rich.

3.LAND TENURE IMPROVEMENT

LAD involves the redistribution of government and private agricultural lands to landless farmers and farmworkers. This is the essence of land reform. It secures farmers' tenure, promotes social equity, and provides them with necessary productive resources needed to ensure their economic viability and productivity.
The distribution of the land can help the farmers to make enough income for their family. Farmers are very important to us because they are the one who provide rice and some vegetable, so we need to give them importance and some benefits for their self.

1.HOUSE APPROVES DAR’S P18.3-B BUDGET

This article is good news for the agriculture concerned. It would give them a big help to improve their lands and rural infrastructures. Pampanga Rep. Anna York C. Bondoc was right in deciding with that issue in agriculture, because they really need to have a big budget for the agriculture so that our agriculture could improve their product output. Also, they could help the farmers and agrarian in keeping the trend of our agriculture. It could be a big help for the farmers to have a development program on how to make a change or grow our agriculture, however the lack of budget for the agrarian concern is an obstacle for them to have an abundant production.

2. FARMERS REAP FORTUNE THRU PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE

The stories of some landowners are very inspiring for all the land owners and people who involve in agriculture, they share this for us to know how to make their crops to have an abundant income. The East –West Seed Phil. has a good gesture a good gesture according to DAR Regional Director Eliasem Castillo, and I agree with him, because of that their training and development in producing and marketing vegetables program that help a lot of famers in Capoocan, Leyte to have an abundant crops and give them a bountiful harvest. This would be set as an example for the entire agriculturist so that they would have the same output in agriculture.

1. In this article it is indeed highly appreciated what the administration is doing right now.
It is really a big help to the Biliran province to Provide irrigation since summer will be approaching.
aside from that the japan country also is lending us their help for the infrastructure.
I just hope that the countries trusted people will continue for their right doing and not indulge themselves for their

In this form the farmers are informed what they will do and what kind of vegetable etc. they will plant.
of course it is obliviously talked that this changing temperature might cause the sudden failure
