Holiday today (Labor Day)

Filipino workers marching on the streets on Labor Day

May 1 marks Labor Day in the Philippines. As per Proclamation No. 84, it is a regular holiday, meaning, no classes will be held in all schools (for trimestral and summer classes) and no work of course! If the management requests the employees to report to work, the employees should get a double pay.

If you ask whether or not President Aquino moves Labor Day to May 2 (Monday), the answer is NO. He is unlike his predecessor who implemented the so-called Holiday Economics.

May 1 is also the International Workers' Day where labor movements from around the world celebrate it.

Enjoy the weekend!
